What are the best hitting cues you ever tried out, from fairly unknown cuemakers?

My Dad has 2 cues from a local guy named Tony Sciannella. Hit very well...

Kaiser Cues

Have you ever been handed a cue to try out (maybe from a friend, or league team mate), and after hitting a few balls with it, you said something like "wow, this cue hits amazing, who made it?", and then when the owner of the cue told you the name of the cue maker, you were like "I never heard of him", or something like that?

This may have happened to you many times in the past, and later on, you found out that the cue maker is actually well known in the world of pool cue fans and players.

I am curious about the cue makers like this (who made a cue that you tried out, and really loved after only the 1st couple of shots), who are actually not very well known, and only at this time, maybe only known in their local area.

Thanks for posting any names of cue makers that come to mind (that made a cue that you were really impressed with, not by the way it looked, but by the way you thought it played / hit, from a cue maker who you had never heard of, and that most players that are not from the cue makers area may not have heard of) , and maybe where they are from, and if you know if they are still building cues or not.

I understand that this is probably a really silly post, because I understand how fast the word can get out about how great of a playing cue that any certain cue maker can make, but maybe there are some new up and coming cue makers out there, who have not been building cues that long, and have not sold too many cues yet (enough to where the word about the great playability of their cues would really spread, like wild fire in the pool community).

For example, I wonder how long it took Diveney cues to become very well known? I am thinking maybe not until he attended events like the Super Billiards Expo, where a lot of pool fans from all over the world attend, and get a chance to try out new cues from up and coming cue makers while they are there.

Justin everyone on here loves to give you a hard time, and you make it easy because you are always looking for quality without spending any money. That simply doesn,t work in the real world.with that said, the best cue i have ever owned for under 200 bucks was not one,but two seperate mohawk cues i bought and played with. They haven,t been made in a long time and are known for warping. But if you can find one ,this will be the closest thing to a southwest (same pin and style cue) i even think they used the same taper.seriously buddy,do a search and find one and buy it. I promise they really do play good. I bet you wish you had held on to that olney you had,no?

I have like 4 of doug Patrick's cues. With different joints, materials, lengths. Etc. And they all hit/feel/look amazing. His shop is out of shooters pool hall in Olathe. Very reasonable prices. And the customer service dont get any better either.

I have never played with one,but alex olinger is playing with one.

John Nemic in Dallas makes great hitting cues
he is an engineer and also makes the best full splice cues i have seenp
with even veneers perfect up and down

buy one if you can get one
you will not be disappointed

Larry Vigus is better known,so he may not fit this category
but hus cues play as good as you can get

Dean i agree 100 percent on vigus cues. Just play great. (I am a southwest guy and own a franklin but i currently play with my vigus) hope you,re doing good buddy.

I have an 80's Randy Anderson (Wichita) that feels and sounds like you're hitting the ball with one very hard, very solid piece of wood. Higher pitched "tink" than most cues. I like that. Sort of like the very first Meucci M1/ST1 hustler, which is still probably my favorite. I have a newer Anderson that hits a bit softer but is still awfully nice.
