What would you say are the Top 6 9Ball events in the world ? Talking about Singles play and talking about prestige of winning, not the quality of the running of the event

So maybe the question should be

What 5 Tournaments would a top player choose to win if they had the choice, anywhere in the world ?

World 9 Ball Championship
U.S. Open 9 Ball
World Pool Masters
Tokyo Open
BCA Championship

1. World 9 Ball
2. US Open 9 Ball
3. China Open
4. World Pool Masters
5. Guiness 9 Ball ??? All Japan??
It's tough because most of the tournaments are going to 10 ball now.

There is no more BCA Open 9 Ball. It was changed into the enjoypool.com 9 Ball Championship, but the BCA killed that also. The BCA does not put a whole lot of effort into producing pro men's tournaments.

Sad representation from our "governing body of pool". The suits at the BCA even mused over the idea of not inducting any more members into their H.O.F. so they could save costs on the induction dinner. By the way, their "Hall of Fame" is not a building or shrine. Not even a shed. It's on paper in file cabinets.

Apologies for partially hijacking this thread. The BCA is a sore spot with many members of pooldom.

If you're interested in more about this, do a "search" here on the BCA or H.O.F. JAM has penned some really great thoughts on this.

The Guinness 9 Ball Tour (formerly the San Miguel Asian 9 Ball Tour) almost went defunct and has just recently began promoting on a very limited basis.
The San Miguel Asian 9 Ball tour was from Mar 15-16, 2003 until Sept 16-17, 2006. Then Guinness took over from April 20-22, 2007 until Oct 24-26, 2008.

Guinness at least has a pulse as far as promoting events in Asia again.

My choices for most prestigious (sp?) 9 ball events now are....

1. The World 9 Ball Championship (On again, off again...scheduled & rescheduled)
2. The U.S. Open
3. The Derby City Classic 9 Ball
4.
5.

In other words, after those majors, all the rest (Turning Stone, All-Japan,
Joss Tour Final, Euro Tour events, etc) are all about the same caliber.

World Pool Masters is nice but it's an invitational with a small field.

For me, the ones that I would want to win most if I was a pro would be:

US Open 9 ball
Derby City 9 ball
World 9 ball, but its never running

Edit: Terry beat me to it, exactly my list, lol
