What bridge u use ?
and do u change ur bridge or not ?

And i wanna ask u , can i use close and open bridge in one game ?
cuz if the distance between the CB and OB is short i use open bridge and if
the distance between the CB and OB is long i use close bridge ...

yes i use closed and open bridges in the same game based on which ever one feels best to me for the shot.
I use the filipino bridge for a closed bridge and the open bridge that johnny archer among others uses.

I use whichever bridge suits the situation. Yes, I'll even use an open bridge on a draw shot. If your stroke is good you won't miscue or jump the ball.

I use both in the same same game for sure, as do a lot of players. There are benefits to both, but being comfortable and in control of the shot drives which I use.
 
What would stop you from using both?

But here's my 2 cents. Open if I need to focus more on pocketing the ball, closed for more control of the cueball I guess. But like like railfirst (ben) I use whatever feels better for me at the moment. Sometimes if I'm using closed bridge on a shot and don't feel confident, a switch to open would give me better confidence in making a shot.

I've tried the Filipino bridge many times (used by Corey, Efren etc) I just can't get it to work for me:confused:. I think it's cause I have short fingers haha

the filipino bridge is made by putting your index finger on top of your middle finger and bending it at the knuckle to make room for the cue, the tip of your index finger rests on the second knuckle of the middle finger. The open bridge i referred to is made by basically making the devil horns, but with your thumb next to your index finger. I believe there is a thread that describes these bridges and others probably better than i can.

open bridge most of the time except when the cb is close to the rail or i need to make a hard positional shot like long draw shots, i also prefer the open bridge with follow shots.
 
i always use an open bridge but i had an injury at work that kinda crippled my hand so i dont have a choice. before the injury i used both bridges. it was whatever felt comfortable.
 
I always use an open bridge, no matter the shot. I've tried a closed bridge but it just feels wrong to me. But then I grew up playing in England & most folks there model their game on snooker, it's what we saw all the time. It works for me, so I can't complain.

It looks like this. This is how I was taught to make my closed bridge. Just hold a pencil or a cigarette where your cue would be like this for 5 minutes, you'll get the hang of it.

I am from the Snooker world and I use the open bridge all the time. I rarely use the closed loop bridge because I feel it can restrict the movment of the cue on the forward stroke and also it is in the eye line a little. It can be good to use if you are used to it though. I naturally shoot with an open bridge and I have got used to it. It would probably be the other way around for an American Pool player.

As an east coaster who likes to drive up and down the northeastern states, I still use the George Washington. If I feel like a change of pace, I use the Tappan Zee, but it often is as backed up as the GWB.

Yes, as a native NY'er myself, I use the George Washington all the time as well. But it does hold the record as being the world's busiest bridge, so sometimes I use the Tappan Zee as an alternate.

But this depends on whether the bridge is "open" or "closed". I myself prefer when the bridge is "closed" as there's noone on it and I have it all to myself. I do have to brisk those wooden signs aside with my car, and swerve those pesky construction workers, though, but hey, they seem very friendly -- I notice in my rear view mirror that they seem to wave at me with this very unique one-fingered salute. In this kind of maneuvering, one does have to change lanes quickly, though, sometimes without enough time to use a turn signal. Especially when you "change lanes" from the upper level to the lower level -- don't have time for a turn signal on that one. :-)
