What cases are you guys using?

I just got a billiard cue and want to leave the rubber grip on, but a lot of these butterfly cases have fabric sleeves. I only know of the Silver Fox cases to have nylon inserts, however the 4x8 combo is a little more than what I'm needing--they don't make the 3x3 anymore. What are you guys using?

My case is 3x6 and the butt sleeves have zippers so I can leave my rubber grips on. The case was made by American Vinyl Products of Vernon, CA. It was owned by George Aronek. My understanding is that that company is now defunct, and that George sold the design to Joe Porper. Try here: http://www.porper.com/index.cfm/fus...9631d192c-7418C38B-19B9-F805-207F8AE51983CEAF

I can't tell from the web site whether Porper's cases have the zippers.

my cue case

I am poor, so I first bought the Sterling (Taiwan) 2x2 hard case which design was probably ripped off some American cue maker. I have more then 2 cues these days so recently I bought a Sterling 4x8 soft case. I like the soft case but my butts have a rubber grip and I find it hard to remove or place the butts in the case.

Ironically I live a few blocks away from where American Vinyl products used to be

I'm in the minority, I know, but I hate the rubber sleeves. I don't really get the purpose of them, played pool for years without them and my hand never slipped. Billiards cue is generally thicker in the back than a pool cue, and with the sleeve, it's like a baseball bat.
Plus I hate stroking a shot and it clings on my shirt. Even if you wear just a t-shirt, the sleeve just clings to you.
Somebody please explain to me why you need a rubber sleeve on a billiards cue. "To prevent your hand from slipping" doesn't really work, or else pool players, who shoot 10X more shots per hour than a billiards player and move around more would be lost without them.
It's just a "thing", isn't it?

there's a SILVER FOX CUE CASE on ebay right now.it says it holds 3 cues.the starting bid is $40.00.......rick.

Castillo

I use a Gil Castillo 3x6 butterfly, he makes the sleeves larger for carom cues if you tell him to, also there are zippers on butt sleeves and he uses a great suede leather for interior and seperates each shaft. He makes 2x4 and others, check out Castillo leathers. Prices are reasonable and he does great work

Obviously it's proportional , if you carry a $3000 , I m sure you are not gonna put it in a tube ..lolll...

And if you carry a $50 cue , you won't need a plastic bag even..
