So many subjective aspects to buying a cue. I'll leave those to everyone else.
An objective point I would like to make, look for a cue that is sold by amazon or fulfilled by amazon. I suggest this for almost anything. The reason why, amazon has great customer service and return policies. I purchased a shaft through amazon and did nto like it, clicked return, printed a return shipping label (with return shipping paid by amazon) and back it went, no questions asked.
I currently have Helmstetter/adams Balabushka GB22 that I purchased on amazon and use a katana shaft with it and am very happy with it and it gets a lot of looks from people that see it. My other cue, is an old Jackson T-3 (I believe scruggs era) and love the way that cue plays more than recently produced schon's that I have tried. Not suggesting to go this route, but rather decide what you like by trying cues locally (if possible) then just go find it on amazon. And if you can find it sold by or fulfilled by amazon, all the better.
