Renaissance wax
I bought and tried renaissance wax, it ended up sticky, I was disappointed after all the great reviews on the product. I'm thinking I didn't get it hot enough to melt in by doing things by hand. Not sure.
Thanks for the pointers to the other equipment. I will investigate.
Its a synthetic wax or at least part of it is.
I have noticed the synthetic waxes don't need to be put on thick as natural car waxes do and they don't harden up like natural waxes do at ALL.
I don't think heat really has much to do with the way the wax dries or sets up.
Renaissance wax needs to be put on micro thin and it will dry or harden up faster.
But the synthetic waxes don't harden up if they are put on too thick.
And they don't get a noticeable crusty surface when they dry like a carnauba wax does .
If I have my lathe set up at a pool tournament I use ether the Renaissances wax or natural carnauba because the synthetic pure polymer seems to never dry .
because I normally apply to much.
Hands down synthetic waxes dry harder and have a higher melting point then any of the 3 known natural waxes.
If you are buffing with a cloth towel then you have a coat of wax on your shaft regardless if the wax felt dry or not.
Wished you were closer,
We could chuck up your shaft and make it slick as snot ,
