What Did I Miss?

I thought Efren was the King of the Hill , but now he has battled his way to be one of the final 2...seems to be contradictory.
I thought it would be dangerous to have him at start at the top, is this how to avoid the Reyes/ King from ruling for the forseeable future? DO away w/ KOTH?

I think that the KOTH tournament is the only one that he plays in the final. The other tournaments he would have to battle along with the other players.
EDIT- Just read that the top money earner for '06 will only play in the final for KOTH. Efren, Thorsten, or Rodney I assume.
