Thanks everyone. It was certainly risky. At the time I was exhausted. The tournament started at 11:00 AM and this took place around 1:15 AM the next morning. I just didn't see a better answer at the time. If you must make the 8 it just seemed to me that there was more margin for error playing it this way and I knew that I've made this shot plenty of times. To bet the tournament win on it is very questionable though, as you all have indicated, at this point I'm not sure it was the best decision. I know I was real happy when the 8 dropped, at least until I stood back behind the cue ball and looked at that 9 ball shot.
