They call me 2 county !

Your playing tournament .(8ball).

Your racing to 5 the score is 3to3 your opponent is shooting the ball before the 8.You get up and start approaching the table but you haven't actually made it to the table but you feel he is out.He gets a funny roll on the 8 and hooks himself.He looks at you approaching, grabs the balls and throws them on the table and says you concede the game by approaching.Is it wrong for some one to do this with out asking the td? What would you do?
What's the call?

Should be over the moment you start approaching the table.

If I approach the table, I AM conceding the game at this point. And I am fully aware that this may shark him. But it doesn't matter, because I conceded the game. NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS NEXT, he won the game because I gave it to him. If I cry about it now, that's bad form on my part. I would NEVER try to claim he lost or that the game should continue in this situation, regardless of any miss or bad roll that may ensue from there. After all, you don't know if it wasn't you that caused the miss or bad roll.

I make a clear decision on how to proceed before I ever move out of my chair. I'm either conceding or not - then I either get up or sit still. If I'm on the fence, I don't concede.

This isnt the case the player wasnt even aware of the guy approaching.(till after he was hooked)
But do you feel a player has a rite to use this excuse(maybe a rule) without even asking the td whats the ruling.

Doesn't matter. Once you leave your chair to concede the game... you do. Otherwise sit the heck down and stay there until your turn.

It's simple really.

I would never walk up to a table before my opponent makes or misses the eight ball. I let them shoot everything.

I'm never in a hurry to lose a game.:smile:

The only time you have a legit reason to get out of your chair is to check a close hit scenario, if a ball is on the rail, etc. It is not acceptable to get out of your chair for any other reason. If you get out of your chair while your opponent is on the 8 (or running an "easy" out), you're conceding the game.

It's just a matter of respect. When my opponent is shooting, I sit in my chair. It's not that much to expect the same in return. Anyone that disagrees with that train of thought is either (1) a player that uses sharking tactics on purpose, or (2) just doesn't know better and needs to be politely informed to sit down.

My friend didnt say a word to the guy just got up cause he thought he was out and was going to give it to him .The cb takes a bad roll as he's approaching the table.

I understand very well getting up and approaching the table in the guys view and I agree it should be a loss but this was a little different.
Maybe its the rite call but the way it happened would kinda rub you wrong.

To answer your question, no, it isn't wrong for the player at the table to say the game is over without talking to the tournament director.

There is nothing different in this case. The moment you leave your chair to concede (whether you say it or not), you lose.
 
It's poor sportsmanship to do anything other than extend your hand and congratulate your opponent once you've stood and approached the table.
 
Yeah, maybe it was a "strange" situation, and maybe the shooter didn't see the opponent walking up to the table. But, as you wrote, your friend got out of his chair and started to approach the table because he thought the shooter was out. Concession of game. Case closed.

You can't keep asking the same question and adding a "yeah, but..." just because you're not getting the answer you want. Every single response has been "concession of game". Take it as a learning experience: stay in your seat until it's your turn because your opponent might miscue or hook himself on the 8.
 
The question thats being asked seems to be more directed to what the rules are than what is right thing to do.

The fact that he would want clarification on the rules of this would upset me as to character...right is right...wrong is wrong...

We have eyes in the back of our head when were on these tables...we can hear, see, anticipate and feel someone aproaching. If someone gets up and starts approaching, its either a shark move...or conceding. If approaching person doesnt concede, and fights not to have to concede...it definately points to shark move.
 
You lose or should lose automatically specially if your getting up
and going in the direction of the pool table.
If you got up to pay the waitress,thats a different story but clearly
that wasn't the case.
