What do you do with your Chalk Block/Cube when Playing

What do you do with your Chalk Block/Cube when Playing in between Shots:confused:

Thought it would be interesting to see what other do with their piece of Chalk Block/Cube when playing.

I personally have a Unique Gadget that Hold the Chalk Block/Cube, and is a Tip pic that I can put in my Back pocket Between Shots.

Seems to work the best of all the Gadgets I have found... ;)

My Favorite Gadget is pictured Below ;)

Let's commit...

Before the year is over, let's all commit to helping one person each who puts chalk upside down on the rail to STOP IT! I'm tired of getting chalk all over my hands because someone is chalking up the rail.

How long did it take you to think of this question? Are you unsure about what to do with the chalk when you shoot? You could've come up with something more original like Moori tips or Predator shafts. Come on!!

What an awful habit! If someone did this on my table (assuming I had one) I would make them lick it off.

I've noticed that Efren is often guilty of this upside-down placement. Does that mean that some of you will soon tout it as the BEST way to sit the cube? Most likely...

Or better yet, are snooker players better at carrying chalk than pool players?

Argh. Sorry for venting.

Chalk!

I have a pocket chalker...so I don't give free Masters Blue to everybody! Its also a peeve of mine...a couple of sessions ago, we played a team from a joint called, 'Uncle Woody's Play Palace'...(yeh you get the idea)...anyway there was a guy there I played frequently and he would tap the chalk on the rail before and after he chalked his cue!...this left little squares of chalk dust all over the rails!...by the end of a match my hands were died a solid blue!

I always wear a shirt with a breast pocket... and, to my wife's chagrin, I have a habit of putting the chalk in my pocket between shots. It's always conveniently there when I need it and I don't have to share it with any of those spin-chalkers who drill holes in their chalk...

Or throwing it accross the table. Thanks poolnut, but your asking for something big here.

I find that some people dont have any respect for pool equiptment, ESPECIALLY if it isnt there own. I get pissed of when my friends leave the cue upside down, and i tell them not to do it. Problem is, they ***** about how they get their shirts dirty when they rub their shirts against the top of the cube. IMO, its their own damn fault for not being careful of where they bend over..... Of course when you shoot off the rail, you look at yur hands and see a thin layer of blue on yur hands. I agree, people will ALWAYS leave the cube upside down, its not something that we will be rid of anytime soon. Once in awhile, fine, not a big deal. If yur leaving the cue upside down on purpose, then yur going to pool hall hell!

I used to have a magnetic chalk holder but was annoyed when i kept on bumping into it and having it fall on the floor all the time. I eventually just tossed the magnetic belt part and kept the actual holding part, with the cover on. Put it in my pocket after i chalk, and take it out, take off the cover and chalk when i have to. I did order a metal chalk holder off the internet as well as 2 new boxes of chalk, should be coming in this week.

I used to just take the cube with me as I moved around the table, but I recently bought a magnetic holder. I keep in on my left side so it's out of the way.

Wouldn't it fall out when you bend over the table? Snooker players of course put it in a small pocket low down on their waistcoats. Perhaps you need to get a hamster-sized waistcoat?

I love my chalk-on-a-stick thingy. I tried the magnetic ones but like most people got annoyed with them getting knocked off by the table. The downside is that it only works properly if you wear trousers with horizontally-cut pockets that are fairly tight like jeans . If you wear nice dress trousers most have diagonally-cut pockets that are fairly loose and then it can easily fall out. The only other issue I've ever had with it is an occasional undersized cube of chalk that did not hold in place properly.

wow

Thanks for the tip guys; I never thought leaving the chalk upside down on the table could upset someone; I think Ill even start tapping it upside down to make sure all the loose dust sits in a small pile on the edge.
I wouldnt care if we were playing in the best hall in America or my personal $50,000 table, if something like leaving the chalk upside down gives me a higher percentage to win... why not?
When Efren and Earl played their race to 150 in nine ball; Efren misses a shot and immediatly picks a booger and puts it on the rail next to the cue ball for Earl. Needless to say, Earl was pissed and started in with his high pitch TX whine; but all Efren could do was cover his mouth and try to hold back his laughter (what a move!).
Its chalk guys, little soap and water, all clean!
Im more irritated by people using the bathroom and not washing their hands (something you cant see); than my hands turning a smurf like blue (something you can see).

All the pool halls I go to have master's chalk. I think anyone who uses a clip looks about as dorky as someone who wears a glove. I've only seen a few people who can play well that use either.

Depends on whether I'm winning or losing. You see, chalk makes an excellent projectile that causes minimal damage to the establishment in which you're playing, thus reducing the chance of financial responsibility for any broken items and/or being barred from that place of business. You just don't have the same versatility with a pool ball (breaks stuff too easily) or your cue (you don't want to break that).

I prefer Master chalk because I've noticed that it seems to hold its line better and I'm able to hit my target more accurately than when I'm throwing ... err ... using ... some el cheapo brand.

I use a pocket chalker... every time I leave my chalk on the table, it gets jacked... I've lost 5 chalks in one week once....

Oddly enough, it doesn't fall out. I guess the pocket is tight enough to prevent that happening. I will look into a hamster size waistcoat, though... lol.

We had a guy in a pool league that did the same thing. He was a "tuff guy" that argued over anything and everything. We all knew he was doing it on purpose but let it slide. The next time we were playing the same team a buddy of mine decided not to wear his glove. We saw him going for the powder as we played. "Tuff guy" was wearing a black t-shirt and all hell broke loose when the "tuff guy" realized those pats on the back were for another purpose. It all ended well though...

I have really bad chalking habits, I use my own chalk, I buy my own chalk, I used to use Triangle, now I use Master's. I dont chalk like normal people, if I am thinking about a shot, chalk is more often then not being applied to my tip, my hands are usually blue by the end of the night, and after about an hour with a brand new piece of chalk I can make it look completely different. I wear out the paper on the sides of the chalk all the time. It is a problem but miscues are few and far between. I hate when people take my chalk. Some of the good players have seen my chalk and ask me this question..."What the hell happened to that thing?" =]

I personally think it all depends on your wrist action...too much wrist and you lose control. To rigid and your unable to swipe it cleanly off the rail and launch it accross the room all in one move without ever touching the table.......When you get really good, you can swipe in one direction and have the chalk go in a completly different direction of the swipe. This way, no one knows it was you that gave the chalk flight......This method does require an aiming system, but once learned gives you great "feel" for where the chalk is going......

I do agree.....you get a much better "pop" from the masters blue vs. the green when it hits the wall.... :D

I personally like MY OWN CHALK, it Master Green.... I buy a Gross of it, and so far it has lasted about a Year, and I am only 1/10 of the way through the GROSS... ;)

When the Gross get to about 2 Dozen Blocks, I will buy another Gross, at $17.00 a Gross, a Block/Cube is abut 12 CENTS.....
