What do you guys think of this cue?

I'd say buy that cue if you are just looking for a "player". I have a Lucasi LE-66 cue and my wife has a LE-18. Both cues are good playing cues with a nice hit. My Lucasi is one of my main playing cues (although I use it with a Z shaft). I can't tell you what the hit on this cue you're talking about is gonna be like because the joint is different (ours uses the Uni-loc joint). Lucasi cues are a good value and nice playing cues, just not much for the trade/resale market.

P.S. That's my LE-66 on the right side of my Avatar.

But how does it play? It's a nice look, very old-school Bushka style. The joint looks like it would hit nice too, the Lucasi I tried with a metal joint was not my favorite, but it was made well. For the price, you should do your best to find a sample to hit with before bying. $100 to spend on a stick you may not like is one thing, over 2 bills is getting up there. I'd go with a Joss for that price myself, or a McD. Find out what type of construction you like, taper, joint, wrap, grip size, then pick a few cues made to those specs. Seems like you are going for what the best look is for the price, which is a sucker way of doing things.

You can never go wrong by buying an American cue... The best cue makers in the world are from America... why look elsewhere?

I know this cue well. Greg from Billiards Warehouse and I have spoken about it several times and I trust him. A PC grad, right here in providence. Its better than your average Lucasi as it was custom designed for BW. Nice looking cue. Plays well with the phenolic/raidial joint. For the money, I wouldn't think there is much out there that will play better for the money. Of course, if you want to really crank it up, put a smart shaft on it. I'll probably buy one later this spring (for use with a smart shaft). Tell Greg that Tim told you to call.

Yep. Just looking for a player. The Coco Schmelke sneaky I was thinking of getting would roughly be the same price when I added my custom options.

Thanks for the info.

I'm still looking for my new cue. Haven't been able to pull the trigger yet. I found this Lucasi on BW, and it really caught my eye: http://www.billiardwarehouse.com/cues/lucasi/lucasi-bw-1.htm

It's between this and a Schmelke Coco. sneaky with some added custom options.

Any thoughts?

I have a Lucasi L-E28 I use for games other than 14.1, and I LOVE it. I don't think you'll go wrong with a Lucasi.;)

100% agree. I've been researching like crazy the past couple of weeks. I know Lucasi to be a solid cue, so the nice Bushka look is just a plus. The Schmelke sneaky I was thinking of getting is very similar, Cocobolo, I was going to add white wrap, but without the veneers and inlays of course.

Wish I could just hit with all them for a month straight :)

I like the design, should be a nice player too.

Can anyone confirm that Lucasi has corrected their notorious problem of the wrap unraveling?? The only Lucasi I had was poorly glued and replaced the wrap within 6 months and I babied that cue.

Well, if it has at least the features you want (wrap type, balance point, joint and so forth), and you like the classic look, I'm sure that would be a nice cue. It's a pretty much top-tier mass market maker (just a tad bellow Joss, Schon, McD for hit feel for me) and the joint in that cue would have a softer, more natural hit than most Lucasi sticks. Heck, scrape off the logo and pass it off a Bushaka if anyone asks:-)

I had a Lucasi that warped on me but that was 5 yrs ago. Regardless, it was a well made cue. I still have a Schmelke sneaky, it hits soft but that could be attributed to the tip. If you can spare an extra $100 get an Adam Classic they're very well made with nice wood. The shaft on mine has some tight grain and is 4.8oz giving it a nice forward balance.

With all that said, a Lucasi can get the job done.

I'd agree with him about Adam cues, I think they love to make classic looking sticks and the quality is up there. Long time ago I knew 2 people who had some, they lasted very well, and the finish was good.

Good lookin cue

Looks like a good cue. I have played with Lucasi and also know friends you have also they play well. I also think for that price range i would consider a Viking they have a great hit and are good cues.
