Leather is HEAVY, and if you Wife Whips you tell he that is Spousal Abuse... ;) Tell your Wife your Pool Cue/Case Collection is cheaper than a MISTRESS... :D

...now I have a Instroke Buffalo 3x5 that I love, my only gripe here would be that the pockets should be gussetted to be a little more square/rectanguler...it would give you a little more depth in each pocket...

Basically, what Jersey said. I'm real happy with mine as well... but now that he mentions about the gussetting... good idea... 'cept more volume = more chit = more weight.... arghhhhhhhh. :(

All I want is a LIGHTWEIGHT case that protects my cues very well. I am trying out a 3x6 Silver Fox next. My 2x2 and 2x4 Porpers so far have been great. Then you are getting the SF BR-1 case instead of the new BR-2? There is one they don't show for 3 cues called a BR-38 in case you didn't know.

You crack me up Shorty ... Does your wife play Pool? It's always nice when you don't have to explain your obsessions all the time .... lol

I have a 2 X 4 Instroke. The only thing I dislike about it is the bottom of the case is only held together with small nails, and over time they have become loose to the point where I think it is gonna fall off.

But to be fair, I used to lean on it a bit when when standing around shootin the breeze, so that didn't help. It just coulda been designed better.

It is now. Originally I didn't design them to be sat on or leaned on or dragged since I didn't do any of these things when using my cues cases. But over time I noticed that many other people do. So the current crop of Instrokes holds up better when they are leaned on, sat on, and dragged.

My biggest problem with my instroke 2x4 is that my main playing cue is 59 in and it will not fit. The nails coming loose at the bottom are also an issue but they have not came out yet. I also have another leather cowboy case that will barely accomodate the 59 in cue but it is heavier than the instroke. So I usually end up using my porper 3x6 because the cue will fit along with my break cue and another cue that I always end up having for sale.

You have an old Instroke. The new ones will hold a 59" cue easily.

Nope...she hates pool...she hates sports...she hates ANYTHING competitive. My step-son and step-daughter are just the opposite. They love pool and don't mind playing with me on occasion...except I have to bank balls or play left handed to make it even. My wife's idea of a good use of the pool table is for laundry or the kids school stuff.

A 3500 dollar laundry table...geez!

I should of held out for a WPBA pro.

Bruce I feel your pain

I gotta tell you Ive had at least one of all the major cases out there and I cant say Ive ever been blown away. Right now I have a Justis 3x6 and its OK but the pockets are real narrow and tricky to get stuff out of them, also the butts seem pretty loose as well. One more thing is that the leather scratches easily so theres no way to avoid it getting beat up. I carried a 2x4 Whitten for a while and man was that thing heavy. The shaft tube inserts were a pain in the butt but the pockets were quite roomy and easy to deal with. Also the way the strap is centered on the case it tended to pinch me on the shoulder making it uncomfortable to carry for long periods. Another case is the old George hard cases, I carried one for a long time but it has issues too. With that big cap on top it made the shoulder strapnot very balanced and it wouldnt wear right and slip off your arm easily. Another thing is the cue arrangement thing you gotta have 2 shafts pointing up and 2 down and you have to pull the shafts pointed down up first to pull out the ones pointed up. After some thought heres my idea for the perfect case. I like that strong durable leather that Whitten uses (the embossed), the flap of a Justis, the huge pockets on the Georges, and the inside of the Porpers except for that whole joint pointed downward thing. Man do I have an ugly case!

puckdaddy I realize there is NO PERFECT CASE, but I have asked myself many time when was the last time I used some GIZMO that was taking up CASE POCKET ROOM. Now i have a JUNK BOX in my Closed with stuff I use at home for Cue Maintenance like Cue Wax, Rags, etc., etc., etc. After a While when something like an Ultimate Tip tool NEVER gets used any more I give it away.

My Perfect Case would be Leather, a Mix of Original Talisman, 3 x 6 Whitten, Porper, and jimM’s. in 3 x 5, or 3 x 6.

See I can not decide even on the configuration of 3 x 5, or 3 x6.... ;)

I love my new Jack Justis case. My Boti is long enough that with the joint protectors my husband made, the shafts are no problem to extract. However, my Bob Frey break cue is normal length and the shaft is hard to get out of the case, even with the joint protectors he made for it. I know I need to put some kind of dowel in that tube, but that's just a minor gripe.

What does anyone use for this and is it permanent or can be extracted from the tube?

I've had this problem with my last case. I used a very clean, never- used sponge right from the grocery store. I cut circles out that were the diameter of the tube and then pushed them deep down to the bottom. The case was so deep I needed 2 or 3 sponge- circles. They're soft, so the cue can't be hurt or scratched, but not so soft that the cue gets stuck in them.

I suppose if you wanted to make sure that the sponge could be removed later, you could sew fishing line into the discs and sew or tack the end of the line down to the inside top. Then you could just pull the line.

Hi Barbara,
Please don't use the wooden dowel.....I have seen these get wedged in the tube and the only way to get them out is to remove the tubes. A cocktail napkin works great. I know it sounds chinzy but it is still the best thing to use in my opinion. By the way, the tubes in my cases are easily removed in case the liners ever need replacing. The only thing you have to remember is to put the butt tube adjacent to the handle strap all the way down into the case first, then the 4 shaft tubes and the opposing butt tube can be pushed down together. If you do not use this sequence, the butt tube will hang up on the handle strap where it goes thru the 1" slot cut into the case.
I am always available to help or answer any questions regarding my cases.
Regards,
Jack

JUSTIS CASES

Hey Jack!

Don't worry, I'm not going to do anything harmful to my case! I think I may go with the marble suggestion from Tracy.

I love my case! Thanks a million! Say hi to Toots and take care!

Maybe they should name em Cue Purses, not Cue Cases.. Above is FUNNY.... :)

Actually Chas Clements a maker of cue cases (envelope style with lots of tooling, not to my liking) has referred to Whitten cases in a derogatory fashion as "purses" because of the fine leather they're made with. They're not rugged enough for his taste. I own a Whitten (and an Instroke) and like my "purse" just fine, but wish I had gotten a 3x6 instead of a 2X4.

Hi Barbara,
Please don't use the marbles.....if the case is accidently dropped on its lid, the shaft tubes could move away from the bottom of the case allowing the marbles to become lodged between the tubes and the bottom. When this happens, you cannot push the shaft tubes all the way down and you then end up having to remove the tubes anyway. Please use cocktail napkins, paper towels or tissue paper to make the adjustment and you can't go wrong. Still enjoying the nuts you gave me.

Okay, I'll use a paper towel!

I like that.... I'll have to just figure out a way to work it into conversation. Although she does already refer to it as my mistress.

John,

The only knock I have with my 3x5 Instroke Geo is the strap. Since its made out of the same recycled leather as the case it tends to be slippery. This leads to it wanting to fall off my shoulder all the time. I've fixed it with a seatbelt pad (nice home-brew fix) but it seems like there should be something better.

Any suggestions?
