And Damn I agree with this one too........

What the f*** are you talking about saying Incardona is the worst? He is the best damn commentator pool has. He almost always knows what the right shot is in every situation, he has a vast amount of knowledge, and he used to be a worldbeater. He is responsible for teaching tens of thousands of people who have watched accustats tapes with his commentary. What in the hell is wrong with you? The best commentary combination is Incardona/Grady IMO. Grady is just as good, but that wisp in his voice when he pronounciates any word with "s" in it gets a little annoying sometimes.

Incardona and Grady are my favs too. I think it is because they have a little rub and makes for good enterment and education.

IMO

Incardona: "Drops nicely for position on the five ball". I love that.

I think most people are just kinda jealous that they don't get to do what Mitch does...

Me personally....I would like to see more of that Brit. that does the World Pool matches...You know the guy THAT GETS REALLY EXCITED!! at the strangest times during a sentence....

That guy reminds me of Myron Cope. He did the Steelers broadcast for many years. Very animated and kinda fun to listen to.

...I figured it's because it's coming from hardcore pool players but the TV production is aimed at the vast population of the general public....

I think that's it in a nutshell. We want the programming targetted for us. What we need to do is wait for the general public to catch up to us a little.

Also, I wonder if "professionals" or "fanatics" in other sports feel the same way? i.e. What do pro football players think of the Dennis Millers of the world.

I know what I would like to hear him say next.......

"I have decided to retire from announcing pool matches and get into something I have a modicum of knowledge about. My choice of words in describing shots and patterns are so out of context it has become obvious that I don't have any idea why I got into this mess, unless it was by opportunity & marriage".
"My tendency to use a verbal vocabulary that is not the normal choice for any one in the pool business has even spilled over to the pool players trying to use words that I don't think they have ever used before. If they had any idea of how silly they sound when saying they were rewarded with a shot OR were fortunate in pocketing a ball. Hell, they got position & or lucked in a ball". Thank You & Goodbye

Hey - "It could Happen" - Stay Tuned.

TY & GL

Ps - My Favs -
Billy (BUT only if he talks like he does in a poolroom and not use words that even he isn't familiar with).
Grady - Anytime.
Buddy of course.
Danny Anytime.
Mark Wilson (if he talks like he does in a poolroom) - Oh wait, that is the way he talks all the time.
But here is a guy that could replace Mitch as far as the promotional aspects and general education. If he could audition for the sponsors, he could get it.

One of the things that brought me to posting this is the fact at my Elks club people don't know that Mitch and Dawn don't know all that much about pool (except how to be married to great players).

Now I know Dawn is a top pro with the WPBA, but that doesn't mean she's an Open or even a B player (hey I skipped the A).

But like I said people who don't know anything about the pool world or even that hitting the cue ball on the right side doesn't mean it will go right. You guys know them, OK honey, hit the ball right here and BLA BLA BLA.

SO that is why I can;t stand to hear all that crap out of Mitch and Dawn (and others like them). They aren't helping by telling the world that Alison is the best and only great in the world, even Alison in all her greatnes makes mistakes (just like Mosconi, or Efren or even my Fav Buddy, they're F'n human).

Ok I'm starting to rant again, sorry. And Oh By The Way, I think alison is one of the best players I've seen on ESPN. But I ussally watch Accu-Stat tapes and watch the best players in the world.

I personally don't like Mitch but I can understand why someone like him is required to commetate pool on ESPN. However, I think they can find someone just as charismatic with a little more pool knowledge. But, if they're going to keep Mitch, they really need to get a Billy, Danny, or Grady to go with him. Hell, at this point I'll take anyone but Dawn.

I actually just listened to Danny commentating with Jimmy Mataya for the first time on the Derby City 10-ball ring game and Jimmy was amazingly good. Of course he was a little sexist and probably not PC, but over and over he kept calling the shot correctly while Danny was wrong time after time. Anyone know anything else that Mataya has commentated on?

Edit: Oh yeah, another thing. It annoys the hell out of me every time I hear Jim Wych commentating 9-ball and use the phrase "break off." This isn't snooker, Jim. Go back to Canada.
