What do you think of my idea

Does anyone think ESPN 2 would air this:

"Legends and up and coming amateurs exhibition"

Johnny Archer and Shanelle Lorraine vs Earl Strickland and (insert beautiful amateur who can play here) 9 ball scotch double race to 7

Johnny and Earl are already out and about doing exhibitions together and you fly Shanelle and maybe OMGWTF over to where they are and promote it and film it and air it on ESPN 2

Both Johnny and Earl are fun to listen to talk and explain strategy to the girls and the girls are fun to look at and they can shoot some pool too.

I've only seen Shanelle's clips on youtube where she is she is shooting a lil but her stroke looks beautiful! Check at the 1:00 mark.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVcva48SGcs

Then you send Shanelle's best shot of the match and send it to the top ten plays of the night on ESPN. They would be wise to air it.

We have never had a pool player as STUNNING as Shanelle and until she learns the game and becomes a pro I think a scotch doubles exhibition is the way to go.

Any ideas what other female amateur could play?

yeah what he said. who would you get to pay the players and the productions costs, b/c as steve tipton is found of saying espn's budget for pool is $0?

brian

Perhaps the guy who paid to have jeanette lee and George Breedlove beat Johnny Archer and Jennifer Beretta for $50,000

That was a good match to watch and the reason I thought of this idea.

well maybe you should pitch your idea to billiards internation since that was their gig

brian

Also would Dragon promotions pay to make this happen since they just signed Shanelle?

Also I have no idea how it works but my general assumption is that all these speed pool, trick shot, and 3 cushion billiards events were probably filmed first then sent to ESPN 2 and then ESPN 2 found it to be entertaining enough to air.

How DOES it work?

By the way this is not an idea that I intend to profit on. I'm throwing out an idea that I hope someone else will use just because I love pool and want to see an event like this.

This sport needs creative thinking to get it noticed. I like your ideas, Luxury.
We all seem to think that ESPN is the only vehicle to promote pool. There are many other venues (SPIKE for example) that provide TV time for events similar to those you describe. I think it would boost pool a lot to have a match like you describe.

there is a reason...

...why that guy's idea made it to TV and it is because the lovely lady players are not just attractive, but very strong players in their own right.

attractive lady player = good

attractive lady player that kicks ass playing pool = even better

However, as you pointed out, someone has already tried this idea, but the program has not been renewed. :(

Jeanette Lee has definitely been good for pool and she looks great on TV but the thing about THIS program would be that one of the most stunningly drop-dead gorgeous, elegant, charming and charismatic women on the planet would be at the table every 4th shot and likely to be on camera when the average Joe is flipping through the channels.

I could be talking about Shanelle OR OMGWTF there by the way.;)

Angelina Jolie plays pool?

As nice as such an opportunity sounds, I would much rather make it to ESPN because I am in the finals of a major tournament, not because I have to be charming or charismatic (two qualities which I distinctly, and purposefully, lack).

What might be an even cooler idea would be a reality type show of an up and coming player making his rounds through the amateur tournaments and he thinks he's ready to take on the big dogs. Then, have a match set up between the up 'n coming player and one of the top players in the sport. After he gets his ass handed to him the top touring pro could give him advice and stuff like that about what it would take to be a top player.

it could work

Umm, most management company's goal is to make money off of their clients. Not puring money into the client:rolleyes:

Luxury,

I don't think you or anyone else can afford the high production cost of putting Shannelle on ESPN or even a public channel:rolleyes:

But if you really want to watch her play, I think something like TAR match would be something that you and some of the boys can put money together for.

Why don't you back Shannelle and I back OMGWTF? I think TAR will go for that idea too.

You just take care of Shannelle's end with her management company. I'm sure you will have to pay them her appearance fee:nanner:

Luxury????????

Sounds like a great idea to me. I especially like the two young ladies you've chosen. I think probably the perfect pitchman that could make all this work Charlie Williams. Any Ideas????

the general public likes to see "girls against the boys"

Have you ever been to a baseball game with 2 really good pitchers? Totally BORING, nothing going on but the ball going back & forth between the pitcher. Little league, on the other hand, is really fun to watch and laugh at - errors, ball going all over the place but the kids are having a ball.

How about a pro / AMATEUR team. Say Johnny or Earl and Allison or Jeanette with a total amateur (try for celebrities with a GOOD sense of humor). Play 8 ball - why - because there is so much "traffic" to get snookered behind. The pro can only "coach" their partner for 20 seconds then they have to step back from the table. Live audience full of pool players would provide plenty of laughter. The uninformed would be able to see that our game is NOT as easy as the pros make it look.

Of course the girls would have to win because they would be the "underdogs".

Maybe we could get TAR to tape it and then it would need to be sent to everyone who would possibly air it.

Mully's idea of a "reality" type show is good too.
