What does breaking a cue supposed to do?

A local player lost one money match and broke his shaft(or was it the butt) right in front of everyone. I did not see it, but it must have been quite a scene.

If I was there, I could have convinced him to sell me that cue just before he broke it.

"It is such a bad cue, let me take that away from you so you will never have to be bothered by it again.:) "

Isn't that kind of disrespectful to one's sponsor?

You darn right it is disrespectful! If I were their sponsor and they broke my cue in front of ANY audience....our relationship would be over.

I once broke a graphite Earl Strickland cue, and believe you me, that cue had it coming.

True- sometimes the cue must pay.

Richard- I think most pros see a cue as you say, a tool, to be replaced as necessary. Not that all would break one purposely, but that replacement is not the end of the world.
