Many people are putting an 8-ball emoji on their Facebook pages. The mysterious 8-ball emoji has left more than a few people befuddled. Does it mean there's a pool tournament happening somewhere nearby?

In fact, the answer is a lot simpler.

The 8-ball emoji is being used as a way of raising awareness for prostate cancer. According to Dublin Live, the 8 represents the second half of the cancer it refers to. Out of 46,000 men diagnosed in UK with prostate cancer, 11,000 die from the disease.

Keith McCready's brother Mark had Stage 4 prostate cancer and went through treatment. He is today cancer-free because he got treatment, though almost too late. He was at Stage 4. Keith himself decided get checked out and got a prostate biopsy last week, and the result is that Keith has a clean bill of health.

For those who are Facebook members, have you seen the 8-ball emoji?

I quit using facebook a while back (mostly political BS), but remember a lot of the "Breast Cancer Awareness" things. Good to see men now being included too. Cancer is a horrible thing, and anything that helps fight it is good. (<-- kind of a Captain Obvious statement)
