What Does Your Pool Hall Playlist Consist Of?

What songs put you in the zone?

If I walk into a pool hall and hear "Wheel in the Sky" by Journey or "Sundown" by Gordon Lightfoot, I feel right at home.

What songs, other than the obvious, "Werewolves Of London" motivate you to play your best?

When I play league on Monday nights the place I play often has on a playlist that includes blues, r&b, soul, etc. Some James Brown, some BB King, some SRV...it works for me and helps me keep loose but focused. Love it! If I could have anything on while playing it would be stuff like that.

First off, welcome to the forum Explosion Jones. You kind of exploded onto the scene there, didn't you?
There's a couple of songs that put me in the mood. "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress", by the Hollies, and "Picture", by Kid Rock and Cheryl Crow.

Many thanks for the welcome Tramp Steamper! Not sure about the Kid Rock, Cheryl Crow song though. Seems a little too modern for me.

Welcome to the Love Boat.....wait a minute wrong forum.
Picture puts me in the zone and anything Journey, Boston, or Foreigner.

Werewolves of London is a no go and should be banned from all pool halls.

Those are all great bands! I'm still not feeling the Kid Rock though, but to each his own.

I did have someone try to shark me during a tournament about six months ago by playing "Goodbye Horses" during the final set.

A Man with good taste

Throw in some Buddy Guy, Bobby Blue Bland and Neil Yong and any 70's soul I'll throw you a 10 spot for the box every time I see you!

My preference is when they have the music turned off. Whether practicing or playing. League night theres not much i can do about it though.

Great topic.

I load the hall juke with something in the vein of the following:

Three Dog Night: I've never been to Spain
Joe Cocker: Feelin allright
Norman Greenbaum: Spirit n the sky
Paul Simon: Still Crazy after all these years
Stevie Ray Vaughan: any song will do from this legend
Jimi Hendrix: Red House, Bold as love, Are you experienced, etc
Stephen Stills: Treetop flyer
Pixies: Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf version)
Nick Cave and the bad seeds: Red Right Hand
Concrete Blonde: Joey
White Stripes: Death Letter Blues, Black Math, Jack the Ripper
Black Sabbath: N.I.B., The Wizard, Fairies wear boots, Sweetleaf
Steely Dan: Hey Nineteen, Deacon Blue, Do it again
John Lennon: Spinning Wheels
Rolling Stones: Playing with Fire, She's a rainbow, Beast of burden
Tommy James and the Shondells: Crystal Blue persuasion, Draggin the line

I could literally go on for a couple hours... but that's my groove.

Metallica + Imsomnium is my turn on zone bands!

I figured you listened to Hanson, Backstreet Boys, and Hillary Duff.

LOL..... My daughter is now 31, and she went through all of that teeny bopper music shit when she was that age.
Hopefully, if you have young kids, youll get to enjoy the current day versions some day soon.....
