What equipment and setup has worked best for you when video recording your game?

I’m new to this great forum and would welcome your advice.

Analog or digital camera?
8mm camera/camcorder, or a different means?
Two-hour recording capability?
Powered via AC adapter and house power instead of battery?
Camera height about 2 feet or so above foot end of the pool table?

I’m guessing your camera is usually tripod-mounted or via a makeshift shelf-mounted setup?

Any tips and equipment comparisons will be much appreciated.

I have mine appox 4-5 foot above the table.

I use a Sony DCR VX2100, run through a DVD burner so I can have tape (master) and burn a DVD realtime.
 
Many thanks for the replies so far, TX & JC. And those 2 threads referred to by JC also yielded a number of good insights as to camera choices and downloading options.

I would not likely have thought about the important benefit of a remote start/stop feature both for creating discreet files and its convenience for an ideally high-mounted camera.

The advice concerning factoring in the kinds of ambient lighting that the final camera choice will be dealing with is a very helpful guide to choosing the ideal camera for a given recording environment.

Good, stimulating info for going about recording my practice sessions to be downloaded and analyzed soon after.
