What foods are the best to eat for good focus?

A lot of pool halls now want no outside food, but some of them only sells chips and candy bars, and microwave food with lots of carbohydrate.

I was told a high protein diet is good for a long day of competition.

I was a vegetarian for a few months until recently. I call vegetarians who eat fish semi-tarians. They're definitely not vegetarians...

Tonight I will be trying Amp by mountain dew :) I have very steady nerves/hands even while hopped up on guarana and maltodextrin so it should work out well. I'm having a light dinner at 4:30 and playing at 7:30 so that should help as well. The energy drink is because my allergies close my nose up while I sleep... so my breathing suffers and I'm tired all day long.

As a connsuier of energy drinks, I can honestly tell you that Amp is not where it's at. Here is a short list of energy drinks in order from "weak sauce" to " you'll try to scream for help but you'll just sound like a raccoon"

Amp {ehhh}

Rockstar juiced {tasty, not too harsh}

Rockstar {semi tasty, good mellow buzz}

Jolt blue can {getting there}

N.O.S. {not a bad breakfast drink}

Jolt red can {you start to get squirrelly}

Jolt Silver can {mostly the nutz}

eXtreme shock { sweet jesus it's hot in here and my leg won't stop twitching}

Russ, I want to hear more about the Kid Delicious DVDs, so instead of waiting breathlessly,
I will try to get you to forget about this thread, by providing the following links. The picture
on the first one is worth a good laugh. It's someone we all probably know playing the guitar.

Sorry, I can't access myspace at all from a military network. Can you post a screen capture instead of linking to the page?

Budweiser isn't an energy drink though ( don't even get me started on that jaguar piss B-e )

I wouldn't say that

I've gotten pretty damn rowdy off Bud before:D

For major events (playing maybe once or twice a day):

Do not eat within 3-4 hours before a match. The meal before should be primarily complex carbohydrates.

During the match, drink water. Not enough to get full on. Just enough to maintain your hydration.

No caffeine or sugars (they will cause you to spike & crash energy wise).

For those weekend types of tournaments, the schedule is so sporatic just do the best you can to eat just enough to keep you going. No big meals. Snacking all day is best. But again, no caffeine or simple sugars.

Championships are won on an empty stomach.

Corey obviously knows what he is talking about.

Word for word, this is probably the exact advice you would gets from someone experienced with sports nutrition.

You're not doing yourself any favors drinking soda or coffee...

I totally agree with you here, I shoot much better at tournaments where I haven't eaten in a while. I also drink about a bottle or two of water during the time that I'm there. That seems to do it for me, focused, and my stroke is slow and amazing.

I also forgot, 3 No-doze dissolved in a mountain dew { COWS ARE GONNA KILL ME, I can taste the color yellow and i'm pretty sure i just left a huge skidmark in my shorts}

I've tried all of those listed and much much more, and amp works the best for me without giving me tremors lol. SO FAR. I just ordered a 12 pack of Inko's White Tea Energy which is supposed to be a jitter-free high energy drink. check out: http://www.screamingenergy.com/energy_drinks.php for a decent guide. Trying to figure out how to buy some of that thai energy drink without getting a giant case of it from the distributor lol.

That's cool, I just figured that you hadn't tried too many energy drinks before BTW I kinda like the tremors, grinding teeth and nervousness

Ten is plenty with an active imagination and a gram of blow.

Try some Adrenachrome (provided you're cool with murdering someone) like Johhny Depp did in Fear and loathing in las vegas

i read somewhere that eating a peppermint candy helps your focus while taking a test... i would assume it would do the same for pool.

Typical vegetarian.:rolleyes: . I did not know that fish was a veggie?? I'm still learning though.
Vegetarians don't eat anything that walks. Fish swim. Vegans only eat Vegeatables. So next time you critisize a non meat eater like me, you can have your facts straight. OK? :D
