 What happened to Lil John in Boston is the reason pool will NEVER get to be like golf or tennis. $34,000 just up and walked out the pool room when John went to the bathroom and his buddy was napping and nobody saw a thing. This is pitiful, the room owners and his opponent probably know who took the money but there probably scared to say. What a pitiful, disgusting
sham !

Did he leave it on the table or someplace? Seems to me if I had that amount of cash, I would have taken to the bathroom with me. Now, if he left it with someone, that too would be stupid. Is this all of the story?

Tank, the full story is in another thread about Road Players going to Boston. Honestly, I think this is a matter we should all keep our noses out of. We're not talking about an organization or something. These are private individuals who are really pissed-off and I think it'd be best if we just stayed out of their way. I don't even think they should be discussing it online but that's another issue.

i have a problem with this for a different reason. who's the dumb*ss who left all that cash on the table? maybe pool will never get to where golf and tennis are because no one gambles as blatantly as those in pool and OTB. that's the image pool has to deal with.

The players themselves are the ones who decided to leave the post in an envelope underneath the table. Unfortunately for Little John, he only had one companion with him, and Tony Ruberto, who was in his hometown court, had his stakehorse "Eddie" and friends in attendance.

I've seen strange things happen when players are "in heat" gambling. Recently, two players engaged in one-pocket for 2 jellybeans a game. They each posted and placed their collective 4 jellybeans in a box of pool balls which was safely left behind the counter. The action lasted about 7 or 8 hours. One side lost 4 matches and promptly exited the pool room in the wee hours of the morning. I found out the next week that the pool room owner discovered the post the next day and returned the monies to the players. How could you forget about the post?

I saw Jose Parica gambling with Keith and Ryan McCreesh in Philly in a captains one-pocket game. It was after midnight, and my eyes were burning from sleep deprivation, an occupational hazard on the tournament trail for some.

During the set, Keith went to shoot a ball in his hole and pocketed it. Jose jumped out of his chair and said, "Wait a minute. That's my hole." With that deer-in-headlights look in his eyes, Keith retreated to the sidelines, looking like a schmuck. Ryan was furious.

Jose then studied the layout of the table and proceeded to pocket a ball. Unfortunately for Jose, he pocketed the ball in Keith-and-Ryan's hole. When Ryan told him about it, Jose scratched his head and then he had that same deer-in-headlights look as Keith. Two seasoned veteran players, both shooting their balls in the wrong hole.

At the conclusion of that game, Ryan immediately unscrewed his stick and said, "I've had enough of this action. I'm getting some sleep." :p
