What happened to Predator?

Just a short while back, Predator used to make cues with linen wraps. Today, except for their sneaky petes, they don't offer any of their better / higher-end cues with linen wraps. FWIW, I thought they made among the best linen wraps I'd ever felt. Slick, smooth, and cool to to the touch.

Booville:

Actually, methinks you didn't look hard enough. The following are available with linen wraps:

http://predatorcues.com/predator_cues_p2.php (you have to specify you want linen wrap [and pay a little extra] at time of order)
http://predatorcues.com/predator_cues_retired_cues.php (many either come standard with linen wrap, or else you can specify it at time of order)

As for "why" Predator may be going primarily with LeatherLuxe or no wrap at all, I guess they are just listening to their customers / viewing the demographics of the orders they get and going with the majority?

The OP is referring to current cues, not retired cues. I agree with the OP that I really liked the Irish linen wraps, the all black ones were really well done, they were the best all black wraps IMO. Not sure why they went to the leather luxe, but I have a feeling they might go back to linen.

I mean the higher-end cues... with points, specifically. Yes, the Predators with linen wraps had the best wraps I had ever felt.

Maybe the lower end cues are now made by poison. Predator may want to be known as highend production cues only. Not that linen wrapped cues cant be highend but the trend now seems to be wrapless.

I play with an old 2 series Predator with a black wrap. The wrap is the best ever.It is slightly tacky to the touch but not to sticky. The butt of the cue has a large chip in the black finish near the joint.Ive been told the cue was made in China and that the chips in the finish are common to the model.I have no idea why the wrap is so nice, maybe its is a very tightly wrapped? The wrap doesn't look like linen to me but ive been told that it is.

Poison is a brand name not a manufacturer.
That would be the Taican factory.
