Been partying a bit too much the last two nights, whats actually happpened?
  • I've seen the bit about the 1/3 offer, but what was the excuse given, how did the IPT justify this offer? (What happened to the champoo?)
  • Also what has happened to the guranteed money, players like Bernie,Colin, Linda are owed 11k out of the 13k even if they didnt win another match?
  • What are they actually promising for next year, what have the qualifiers been promised?
  • What have they only called a handfull of players and not everyone?

I have been (un)furtunate to see so many scamsters since I first started travelling over a decade ago. I've had my fingers burnt in the past but as they say in pool, "you pay to learn". The only fortunate thing is whether its a german shister in thailand, an itaian mobster in vegas or NY, or an arabian conman they all speak the same language!

We all wanted this thing to work but I, like several players took a "wait and see" attitude. The warning signs where there over a year ago (too many to list) and I for one just couldn't silence the alarm bells. This tour was fantastic for the FULL TIME pool players, and most didn't really lose too much. It was however never a tour to plan your life around IMHO.

I haven't seen the answer to any of your questions and even if kt had addressed those questions what would it REALLY mean anyway?

    No excuse given to the best of my knowledge. One player asked if he had a choice and was not given an answer. Another player was told "this is what we're doing" which didn't leave it up for discussion.

    As with most burning questions people have of the IPT, this was ignored.

  • What are they actually promising for next year, what have the qualifiers been promised?

    So far they've mentioned to some that the tour will continue on a lesser scale. The last number I heard was that the prize funds for next yr will be $750,000.

  • What have they only called a handful of players and not everyone?

    One of the big unknowns. IMO, and I'm just guessing because no one really knows the answer.... I think they're calling A) the bigger money winners that they think are hurting financially and B) the people that they think are of the personality that will just accept it as is without question and be happy to get whatever they can.

As best as I've been able to tell, they've had 3 different people making the phone calls. Different players have talked to different people.

MS made some calls prior to this all coming out and offered to buy some players out for 10%. I think he was putting out feelers for KT, trying to see if people were willing to settle easily and for how much.

This whole mess is just more proof that the IPT has not once told anyone the truth concerning anything since Reno. IIRC, the very last announcement that was sent to the players told them to "pop the champagne" because "funding has been secured for the future of the IPT".

Then a general announcement to the public comes out about them "postponing" Chicago. The players never got a personal announcement after "pop the champagne" until some of them got the call on Friday.

No excuses & no reasoning to date. :(
 
thanks luv, clears the current situation up but what a mess for the players. If what you say is true about MS then he's should be ashamed of himself. Talk about conflict of interests, how would anyone ever beleive he wasn't working for KT to get him off lightly!

Initially my reaction was "MS had better never show his face in the pool world again." Then I realized who I was talking about... he's so conceited, I can see him thinking nothing of it. I don't advocate violence but I do know of a couple of players that once they've been wronged, they don't take it too lightly and have been known in the past to throw a punch. MS had better know who those guys are and avoid them. JMO

I also forgot to tell you... I finally had to break down and put our little Jake on ignore. He has become that unbearable... no more endearing ignorance that we found amusing... he's turned pretty rotten the last couple of days. :rolleyes:

I've had Jake on ignore for a few years now Timberly, even with him on ignore you will still be able to see how he has such a negative effect on the board.

As for MS offering to buy players out for 10%, that to me is nothing more than him trying to help cover KT's ass. I would love to see him make this offer to certain players face to face, what a disgrace. If it wasn't for KT this guy would be the biggest loser in the pool world, I guess he will have to settle for second:rolleyes:

Classic "divide and conquer" tactics. Weaken the ranks of opposition by selecting the individuals that need the money and are most likely to accept the "settlement". Smart, but will be only partially successful.

Does anyone doubt that MS knew in advance that KT was about to make ae 33% settlement offer? Nice, easy, and quick way to take advantage and profit 23% from the misfortunes of your friends and colleagues. This entire thing gets more disgusting everytime KT or anyone from his "camp" opens his mouth.

KY's word is totally worthless, that's exactly why the players need a qualified attorney to represent them in a legal setting.

Personally, I don't think that there is a breath of life left in the IPT and anyone that would even consider continuing to be part of the IPT is delusional and needs therapy.

Ok, so he approached people at an event instead of calling them. :rolleyes:

Anyone that thinks MS was doing something out of the goodness of his heart and not with an ulterior motive is simply fooling themselves. We've all seen first hand what a POS KT is and MS has chosen to align himself with KT and continue to be good friends with him. If that isn't the writing on the wall as to where MS stands, I don't know what is.

If that's true, and I don't know that it's not, then he sure picked a strange, highly tainted partner (KT) to do it with.

That's right! He offered it to a player who was having a discussion that others have sold 10%. He did not approach anyone. Players have backers is it wrong to take 10% on one's winning who have not been paid yet!

No I don't think that's wrong. It's like borrowing and paying interest.
Not a bad deal concidering they might get stiffed for the full amount.
Maybe MS knows something the rest of us don't.

You posted several times he CALLED PLAYERS, DO YOU REALLY HAVE A CLUE? Ulterior motive 10%! MS is freinds with KT for like 15 years, KT wanted to do someting with pool years ago MS said don't bother. Until last year when he thought all would be great.
but here we all are, and YES MS called players to join and YES MS encouraged them And yes he's guilty of that but not of fishing around to decrease the money to players. You think he wants the tour to end, get real! He came out of retirement after 11 years to go through this again. Why do you think he quit to begin with! No money No sponsors all the BS!

You, KT and Deno are all "full of it" if you know what I mean.
 
Man, this is a BRUTAL room. AZ Billiards is the toughest action on planet earth bar none. It is no wonder that most people don't want to mix it up in here.

It would be a pretty safe bet that if we were to get everyone in a room together that there wouldn't be any fistfights and none of the vehemence and personal insults that people so freely hurl at on another on this board.

Tough action.
