There are so many problems, one, every tour, league, event, has its different rule book, golf only has one rule book for all.
Can you imagine at every tour stop, they are playing golf into a different sized cup, no one in that game would put up with that. Its one sized cup, for the pros and the amateurs everywhere worldwide.
We need the same in pool. Loose pockets mean more racks ran and more excitement. Blipped out and missed balls are not fun to watch.
The pros pocket should be 4 3/4" and all tournaments should play that. The table companies should go back to making 5" pockets for the home market.
If gamblers want to triple shim their tables they hustle on, fine.
This movement to move the pockets down to 4 3/8 to 4 l/4 is from the Chinese, who come from a snooker background and are used to smaller pockets. The average league or home player, can barely handle pro cut 4 3/4" and 4 l/2" is beyond them.
