What if there was a pro organization, and they drug tested?

Lots of other sports do it. Just introducing a topic for discussion, not trying to accuse anyone specific. Personally, I could care less - but it is a reality in the world of pro sports. Oh how some of the mighty might fall.
In pool, without a doubt, any drug which enhances a player's confidence, calms nervousness, or provides a mask of one's true self, has a definite advantage. Only drugs which should be allowed to use by any professional athlete are those which are required to maintain physical health. The cream would then rise to the top, from a mental aspect, which is what produces real champions. Strength of mind and character coupled with real talent are what produce greatness.

Haha, now that's a whole new topic.... If politicians could be held accountable for what they promise, oh, well, nevermind, that will never happen...

Hehe... Rand would not be so pessimistic. Nice avatar.

Well hell, guess it really does matter. Never gonna happen since we can't get our shìt together for a governing body... but if it does happen, it's only fair.

I feel bad though for anyone who'd be sort of collateral damage.. the guys who are on ADD medication for all aspects of their life, and it just happens to also help them at the table. I've heard can't find a med that calms his moods without hurting his stroke so he keeps away. Try to imagine earl on coke. I'm going to hell for laughing at the thought.

If a player is prescribed a drug, then it is certainly allowed. Lots of people are prescribed adderall, and probably just as many take it "illegally"... I have no problem with someone taking a drug ordered by a doctor.

Guess I was just thinking that it is unfortunate that some top players may not be able to perform without their drug of choice. And it could also be an advantage, that if taken away, could seriously effect their game. I'm curious to see how their game would be affected. And just like some others on here have implied, there definitely are some players that use drugs during play.

And yes, even pot could be included because it helps calm some players nerves, and/or improves their focus. I know this is arguable, but I also know pot effects everyone in different ways. For the record, I think it should be legalized, and I'm not a user. But, until it is legal, a player shouldn't be allowed to sneak off in between matches for a toke to calm their nerves....

Just my 2 cents...

Haha, thanks... Nice avatar as well. I thought rand would agree that politicians are not usually held accountable to their word, but should be... I'm far from a scholar on her work and philosophy, but I'm a fan of AS.

Not sure if she'd be too keen on turning gold into silver, wouldn't it be the other way around? Sorry, don't keep up with the values of precious metals :)

yes there are drugs out there that can "assist' in keeping you up longer, steadying the nerves, dulling the pain BUT big BUT there is no drug legal or other wise that will make you a better pool player! I callenge you to name 1 just that doesn't help "symptoms" but acctualy makes you a better player

now just to be clear i'm not saying "well in that case damn it all to hell let the players pop, snort, smoke, inject what ever they want" but really piss tests i think making sure there is enough money to pay the players is alittle more important

... i had more but i'm going to stop for now...
