What if? True random racking

Wondering if either of these two would help create a more random and fun game to take soft breaks, cut breaks, and pattern racking out of the game at the upper levels.

1) A true random rack. Any ball can go in any spot. 9 as the head ball or the back ball 9,1,3,2,4,7,8,6,5 etc.

2) IF you make a corner ball, you keep shooting, but it spots up (would create at least a chance for congestion around the head spot and force a break out.

Thoughts and/or opinions?

This post seems to evidence a critical misunderstanding about why we have the game we have "at the upper levels". Tournament promoters are getting paid by businesses with various template racks to force competitors to use them.

And the tournament promoters want the tournament to finish on time.

Both of these requirements necessitate players running LOTS of racks, so matches go faster.

Tournament promoters have only a minimal interest in having the actual best player win the event. ESPECIALLY if the rules force the matches to run a little bit longer.

I like that call; any money ball is a lost when pocketed on the break.
kind of like the 31 rule in cribbage.

I was thinking of something else though,
on the subject of random racking...

The 31 rule in cribbage??? Please explain your analogy. Been playing cribbage for 40 years and never heard someone losing if they hit 31 on the play. Thanks.

well.. its one point? That ain't good.

In this house that's a lot of shoot'n for only one point,
rarely the rule is enplay here though.
