Since I hate to rack, I usually take 3 sets of balls and put them all out at the same time. I pick any CB and play in rotation, making all 3 1s first, then all the 2s, etc...

My high run ON A 4.5x9, is 2 1balls.

I imagine it would be tougher on a bar box.

Both play very different.

A bar table has small side pockets, lots of clusters to deal with, speed control is critical, and to boot, lots of bar tables have bad runoff, lighting, and dirty worn cloth. Spinning the cue ball and breaking busting clusters tends to be more critical. Special shots like rail bridges and shooting over balls tend to come up more often.

On a full size 4 1/2X9', you will face the long green on a lot of shots, need to posses a smooth, accurate stroke, and must be good with a mechanical bridge. Shot making is very critical, but the table tends to be more wide open.

IMO, and I think most will agree, a full size table separates the men from the boys much more effectively than the bar box.

Wasn't there a very good player that called bar boxes "toy tables"?
Anyways, if you want tough, play on a 5x10 gold crown with snooker pockets.

8-ball on a barbox is much tougher than on a full size table. 9-ball is much easier on a barbox than on a full size. IMO

Exactly! A 7' table gets mighty congested playing 8-ball and good position can often be measured in fractions of an inch. With 9-ball on a 7' table, there is less emphasis on maintaining the right angle than on a 9' table. The smaller sized table and more generous pockets often rewards sloppy position play with favorable results. The shots are shorter and moving the cueball from one end to the other is much easier.

I agree on that....I think that the hardest game on 9's are 1P and straight pool with a long run...

Hate bar boxes

Can you imagine playing straight pool on a 7 foot table with the large cueball.
I love the 9 foot tables myself regardlesss of what game you are playing.

Personally, I hate Bar Boxes... No room to work at all... There's an Accu-fast 9ft in a Pool Hall here, and I love the feel of that table.

I think sand would be fun... Someone needs to invent a Sand Cue tho, lol...

That's exactly what my friends and I do in Danville! Only it's not a GC, just a Brunswick 5x10 snooker with american-pool-sized balls. Talk about frustrating! Trying to slow roll a ball down the rail into a corner is like trying to thread a needle while wearing lineman's gloves and having a mountain lion chewing on your neck.
