What is happening with Predator cues

Are they trying to put themselves under. They have made some nice cues since they started and most are now retired. The selection is small and it seems to me they will eventually go under. Just wondering what others think?

Predator has a nice selection of cues and shafts. It seems to be about the same as Mezz, OB, Schon and Tiger.
Why do you think their selection isn't big enough?

I counted over 40 different cues from Predator's website, not including retired cues that some retailers may still have in stock. How many more do you think Predator should be selling?

Put themselves under? You don't seem to know the first thing about running a business. You sell what... sells. If the majority of their income is from shafts. Then they sell shafts. If I had to guess, Predator's top three sales come from: Shafts, BK Break Cues, P3 Playing Cues.

They don't seem to have as nice a selection as they use to and prices are very high for production cues. That's what I'm saying.

I feel like it's irrelevant as to how many cues they have in the lineup. I'm willing to bet as stated that the majority of their profits are from shafts. I don't see them going under any time soon.

"don't seem to have as a nice a selection"

What that reads like, is you don't like the cues they have to offer, so it's bugging you. Either one of two things is happening here:

A) You are in search of a new cue. You want a Predator, but don't like what they have to offer.

B) You are just complaining that Predator's cost too much for a production cue.

A = no. B = yes

I can see the OPs point regardless of how many cues Pred has on the market.

I bought a members Pred without a shaft. This particular model still retails at $900.

I got a decent deal on it to the point of having it refinished. I added a couple of Players HXT shafts for it. Basically, I got the 2 shafts for half the price of one 314 shaft.

To me anyway, it's the shafts that do anything for the cue itself. I seriously don't care for it much and if I had have actually spent $900 for it, I would have been gravely disappointed.

It's ok but far from being $900 Special in any way. For that much money, I feel that I could have done much better in a cheaper production cue, maybe same price in a Mezz, Lucasi Hybrid, etc or even a custom, new or used.

However, I love my Pred Sneaky.

I was never fond of any of predators cues until they came out with the road line serious ..

oh and this

And that's my point. The OP is complaining that Predator's cost too much for a production cue. You get what you pay for and you buy what you want and can afford.

I'd rather a $100 Schmelke with $50 worth of customization, than my friends $400 Predator Roadline, but I don't complain that a Roadline is too expensive, because there's a lot involved in making that specific production cue.

That is a nice looking cue Trob. And I like the looks of the Road Line series also.

Mine is a beautiful looking cue with camel bone points and inlays. Nothing wrong with how it looks.

I was referring to the price vs how it feels and plays.

Someone else may love that cue, it's just not for me.

I think that I will give it another whirl this weekend Tourney and if I still feel the same, will try and get close to half price for it in the Sale Forum.

Maybe a trade of some sort also. It is brand new for all intent and purposes.

BTW. It does hit a Ton and also plays Lights Out. At least it will when it goes on the auction block. Hahahahaha!

That''s the other thing.. I never really liked the hit of predator either lol. The road line I got from a friend cheap.. it's the first I played with with out a metal joint. I played one day with it and the lambros never came back out of the bag. lol I don't have a problem with the price. It's hard making money in any business involved with pool and they've kept there head above water for a long time. I do know they have a smaller booth at the expo the last year or 2. There trying to down size I guess. I'm not hearing the classic predator player saying much good about the new vantage shaft but you got to stay innovative if you want to stay relevant I guess.

Pred. make cues -a joke

Danny Janes helped the idea, butts for the shafts since 1997. and many other cue makers had no choice but to (put these on there custom cues- I'll take a Schick or a Mottey-or a Southwest, Bender and never use a pred shaft. Just fix a ferrule and you will see how cheap there made! and here we have the p-3 with no laminated shafts and the butts weren't even wood! mark

I recently picked up a Predator SP8RW w/Z2 shaft...and haven't put it down since! I love the look, I love the woods used in it, I love the weight and balance. Took me a couple of hours to get used to the much smaller diameter tip, but once I did, I was moving the ball around pretty darn effectively. I was pretty happy with the cues I have, so bought it on a whim after a small windfall, just to shake things up in my game a little...never expected to fall in love with the silly thing, but I did. I want to get it refinished, but can't seem to bring myself to part with it long enough to have it done.

Not as a big fan of their newer designs...but this particular cue has become a favorite. Go figure.
