What is Skid

Ok

I think the polish can make chalk stick more. The next time you get a skid, try looking at the cue ball for a chalk spot that has a scuff mark in it.

Do you mean "try" convincing my opponent that I should pick up the cue ball after I miss? LOL

Yes. I suggest, "Did you see the mung on that cue ball? Let me clean it for you."

Is it true that top inside english is more conducive to skidding?

I heard a commentator mention this one time.

That is true, as I mentioned in my previous post, based on the article I remembered reading years and years ago. Top inside and low outside on cut shots increased the chance of getting a skid because of the rotation of the ball and position of the chalk mark, I believe the opposite (top outside or low inside) removed the possibility of a skid, at least from the most recent chalk mark...

Thanks for the info.

On another note, the first time I asked somebody what skid was they quickly replied "An excuse for missing". =)
