What is the bca rule?

We play "points" in ACS league. You must win your round, which is like getting a "WIN"... thus, you can win 5 rounds, plus the overall score, for 6 rounds per night.

10 points for a win plus an extra point for every ball your opponent leaves on table. 17-0 would be the best score attainable in one game.

10-7 if you are both down to the 8 ball.

We need only 3 points to win the round. Most teams don't bother to figure it out because of them math involved, including the Handicap points given out. But, if you are not shooting, it only takes a few seconds to determine what both sides need in the last game.

Thus, my team mate breaks and makes a ball. He choses the same category and makes second ball, but is now hooked. I coach him and tell him, hit the opponents ball into your duck sitting in the pocket and give him ball in hand. You've won, so who cares what happens next.

If you don't, and you give him bih beccasue you miss your kick, he runs out, and you lose needing one point. yeah, seems lame, but the name of the game is to win, thus we played for the win. The other team was not pissed in the least, they figured it out only after it happened, but if you need one point, take the point ;)

In our BCA 10 ball league balls that are made on a scratch shot do not count as a point. Check with the LO to find out for sure.

The history of the BCA/BCAPL/CSI rules has been to not dictate scoring procedures for individual leagues. There are currently systems provided for use in the league operators literature, but nothing mandatory.

The provision in the CSI 8-Ball rules that illegally pocketed balls are scored in favor of the shooter is designed primarily to align with the provision in the rules that illegally pocketed balls are not returned to the table.

However, it has long been the case that a savvy (at your option, read "unscrupulous") player may, under the rules, intentionally illegally pocket a ball, or jump it off the table, in order to secure a victory in a ball-count situation.

In 2012, the USAPL division of CSI, which by rule depends on a ball-count to win a match, instituted a "winning ball" provision, in which the set or match winning ball(s) must be legally pocketed in order to count:

Any ball that brings your total score or your team’s total score to a point that wins a set must be legally pocketed. If a ball that would normally achieve that score is illegally pocketed, the following procedures apply:
  • a. Your inning ends. Any foul in conjunction with the illegally pocketed ball is applied normally.
  • b. The point for the illegally pocketed ball is deferred until you legally pocket another ball.
  • c. If you do not legally pocket any more balls in that game, the illegally pocketed ball is not scored.
  • d. If you legally pocket another ball in that game, you are credited with the illegally pocketed ball.
  • e. If more than one ball is illegally pocketed in such a situation, illegally pocketed balls are scored immediately up to the point at which one more ball is needed to win the game or match. The remaining illegally pocketed ball is deferred (Example: two balls are needed to win, and two balls are illegally pocketed. The first illegally pocketed ball is scored immediately; the second illegally pocketed ball is deferred.)

If the league members/league operator want to use it, the language is easily adopted and applied to any league situation.
