What is the Best chalk?

Well, I guess I'll throw my two cents worth in...

Best Tip:
High End: Kamui Black
Medium: Sniper
Low End: Triangle

Best Chalk:
Currently using and preferred is Black Diamond. I have used NIB and don't like it as much as the Diamond. NIB is messier than Diamond but both have excellent retention on the tip. My next choice (and I have a few in my bag along with a box at the house) is Masters.

I use blue diamond chalk with a hard black kamui tip and I rarely miscue. I have a bad habit of not chalking for 4 or 5 shots. My question is miscues are in the stroke more then the chalk?

You mean "STEAL" from your pool room???
Chalk is like trash, you go to McDonalds and leave your Taco bell trash in their can, you go to one pool room and leave your piece from another room there, it all evens out in time.
Another matter, when the leather on a tip gets old, its nice to know sooner than later, and if the tip should be replaced but the chalk is covering up its flaws, is that acceptable?

edge to edge=potential slip!

When a player goes to any edge of the cue-ball, there's always a potential for a miscue. How hard the tip is, along with the evenness of the chalk spread on that tip, (the type of chalk comes into play here) give "traction to the tip" on the cue-ball, helping to reduce the natural, "physical" tendency for a slip or miscue!

For rookies with an uneven stroke, miscues can result from an inaccurate angle of attack on the cue-ball or an ill timed wrist release. If you think about it, both of the aforementioned things cause the tip to be on the edge of the ball. So, that's where the potential for miscues primarily exists, on the edge of the contact surface between the tip and cue-ball!
So either reason, poor stroke or slippery contact surface can cause a problem. Also, the morally repulsive act of wetting the chalk or tip of an opponent, can bear similar, miscue laden, fruit for them.;)

I've tried the Kamui chalk. I thought it was ok...nothing all that great. Part of my PSR is chalking so I have trouble getting in sync when I use it.

Personally I like the Kamui black S for a tip and I use blue Russian Magic Chalk. I have about 40 cubes of masters and I use that when I'm too lazy to get my chalk out of my case on my home table. It's good for the guests.

I use Blue diamond chalk, but it leaves a lot of blue powder everywhere, including on the cue ball. I chalk every so often or when I need to use draw or break the balls. Chalking between every shot is distracting for me.

Since I'm so lazy, I guess I'll have to try the Kamui brand. :grin-square:

Best,
Mike

best chalk i've tried recently is pan-xt chalk, xiao ting pan's own brand of chalk, out of asia. i say it's the best of / and in between blue diamond and the kamuii. it's not as creamy as the kamuii chalk and it's cleaner than the blue diamond chalk. (no blue hands!) plus it doesn't leave that white residue on the table like the kamuii chalk does.

not sure if it's going to be imported into america or how much it cost but it's the best chalk i've tried so far.

i think you're going to see a lot of new chalks on the market soon ranging in various prices. i don't think masters or any of those other brands are going to let kamuii cut into their market and profits. the days of free chalk may be over soon...

So where do you get pan-xt chalk?

I know my table (and hands) are much cleaner now that I am using Kamui.

IMO that is really not a good habit to break...

I use blue diamond, it works fine and does not cost that much.
Never tried the Kamui chalk, but @ $28 a piece it's a bit steep for a piece of chalk.

I'll stick with my Magic Chalk. For the bucks I like it better than all the others..

Gotta agree. Finally tried this "magic chalk" stuff. Quesports gave me a used piece, but it sat in my basement for a few months...just didn't think it would be for me. I guess I"m old school.... no LD shafts, and I've been shooting with a Burton Spain going on 33 years now....(got it when I was 17)

But, this chalk is AWESOME... I like it because I can do drills in my basement and not have to chalk on every shot, it does save some time when you do drills for an hour or two.

I chalked once, and shot about 30 balls before I just decided to chalk again... So basically, I just chalk when I think it is necessary..... which is not often.

So, now my thinking is to use it in league and just chalk before my first shot of the night, and before the 8 ball.....thus I will only need to chalk 6 times a night :) I think I could play all five games with only chalking once, but why push it..... it really grabs on the long power draw shots like I've never seen before....crazy....

And the price is a fraction of the Kamui...... I'm sold, and I'm usually considered a tough customer because I don't buy anything unless it is a deal and top notch.......

best chalk

I using Blue Diamond right now.I also have pre-flag Masters but like Blue Diamond.

So who sells Magic Chalk?

koinnkid on AZB.... makers of TNT cues......

Plus the magic chalks is NOT messy.... i have olive green cloth, and I rarely even see a blue mark on my table, and certainly not on my hands or shaft...... the only place I see it is on the cueball,,,, but after a few weeks, just wipe the ball down... no big deal...
