what is the best cue case for the money.

for me the sterling wave case was my choice over jb rugged
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=318285
biggest difference was i found the zipper style on the sterling wave much easier to get into the pockets compared to the rugged
i have jb case i bought from indy qs
same complaint
the pockets are not user friendly
sterling wave cases have the ultra pad protection so they are among the top from a protection perspective

The Wave case pockets are great. I designed them to be easy to get into and hold a ton of stuff. I liked them so much I put them on my personal leather case.

I think it's a toss up but I found your review to be incredibly well done and thorough.

If any customer wants Wave case style pockets on a Rugged, or any other model, then we can do that.

Here are a couple custom jobs, nylon butterfly with Wave case pockets and a 1x2 with It's George/GTF style pockets.

I think we are the only custom maker doing true custom work in this price range. I need to do a compilation of all the custom cases we have done that are sub-$200

It's Chady. Chady sends the cases to Taiwan, which is another country and then sends them to the USA. Trust me I have been all over this 17ways from Sunday about the shipping.

It's the same from Hong Kong which is only 10 hours away from me. People routinely ship cases from there for $38. From where I am though it's $75 or MORE.

Yes, as Ben Franklin said a penny saved is a penny earned. If you want a product and you can save money when you buy it then you get all the benefit of that product at less cost. So if you can get the same $100 case from Chady for $140 then even better or from IndyQ for $125 or from Seyberts for $115 then so much the better.

All I am doing is explaining that IF a case is truly well built, truly protective and, if ordered directly from me, truly custom then the difference in cost to the consumer, looked at long term is really tiny for the benefit received.

Even for the short term $75 isn't that much money. We can break it down a hundred ways but each of us has practically thrown away more than that each year on frivolous things that don't have lasting value and benefit.

Tell me where you get custom made cases in this quality for $175-$225

I hate the shipping cost too. But that's just part of doing business and I can either be upfront about it or raise my prices to cover it.

The price paid for good quality is quickly forgotten while the bitterness of poor quality is felt every time you use the inferior product and realize for just a little more you could have had the best and no problems.

So yes, if you can save money on our cases by buying from our dealers then by all means do so, but make sure you buy our cases because the price of fixing a damaged cue or throwing away a broken case will exceed any savings you get from purchasing an inferior case.

That explains the difference in price. Oh well, I will have to purchase from USA supplier or Chady.
And yes, I am not questioning the quality or what I get for the money. If you remember, I was the one to tell you how much I love my 4x8 rugged case when you and Bryan were at Sand Castle. And you kept adjusting shoulder strap on my case, that was so funny
Hope to see you in Apr again man.

john when i went to your site i couldnt find the rugged cases
also whats the difference between "classic" and "ultra" rugged

i try to always be objective in any critique i do...:)

Just watched the video and I am impressed! Can't figure out why
you are the recipient of so much detestation. I am waiting for
Seybert's to get them in stock and then I will buy one. It is
impossible for me to justify $75 shipping unless I truly wanted
something custom, which I don't. Keep up the great work John.
I already own Instroke Cowboy 3x5 and a Kopy Kat 1x2 and I
love both designs.

Like I said, I'm not going to get into any pissing matches here.

JB and Jive have their personal opinions of Roger at Volturi, and are certainly entitled to them. The issues between them, should be handled in private IMO. It saddens me that the three of them can't get along, but as Jive said the blood is already bad. That being said, Rigmaster hurling insults at John is neither warranted, nor an action of Roger, it is Rigmaster's action and opinion. The insults thrown back at Roger, may or may not be warranted, however, I, personally don't feel the insults in either direction belong in this thread. (That is all the more I will address it.)

My experiences with Roger have always been good, and I absolutely love my case. There is NO WAY any other case maker could have built my case for the same amount Roger charged me. I honestly felt like I rolled the dice when I ordered my case. I think i was the first, or one of the first cases Roger sent to the states. When I received mine, I was blown away with all the little extras he incorporated that I didn't expect. That's why I ordered a second, and carry a Volturi Case EVERYDAY.

JB also builds an amazing case, and you will be happy if you buy from him. John goes above and beyond to support his customers. I cannot, and wouldn't attempt to say anything negative about him or his cases. He is IMO one of the best, if not THE BEST case designer/builder ever.

Either way you go, you will be happy.

All the best,

All the best,

From what I understand Roger is making some amazingly low prices to some people so the way I feel about it is at those prices one can afford to roll the dice. Since he does not publish prices it seems that price is a one-on-one negotiation where people all pay something different.

If I were a consumer then I'd probably be enticed by cases with a lot of visual decoration and low prices.

Roger does do some neat things on the cases. Stuff that I will definitely copy because they are neat. The laser cut personalized zipper pulls on your case was definitely a very cool thing.

He took my padded interior and L-zippers and a few other ideas so he probably won't mind if I take a few of his decorative ideas. Or he might want to take out a hit on my family if I do.

Because I don't allow people like Ron (Rigmaster) to unfairly attack me with racist and bigoted remarks and then turn around and be hypocritical about it. So hypocrites and liars detest me.

I totally agree about the shipping cost.

It seems there is always a yin/yang with everything. I build the best cases I can in a shop on the other side of the world. The drawback is high shipping costs.

In essence though it's the same for folks outside the USA who want to buy US made brands. I sent a Whitten 1x2 to China and it was $85 via the post office.

I can only guess that a 2x4 would probably be north of $100 to export it from the USA.

Ok John. How about this. Chudy is in the same region and yet, he only charges $40 for shipping same case. And it takes 4-5 days to deliver vs your $75 and I believe longer on delivery time.
Just trying to understand why such a difference in shipping charges.
Also, using your terminology, let's look at it in a long run(10 years). Think of $7.5 a year that you are SAVING, .02cts a day that you are not spending but saving. How about that?

I had a custom 2x5/3x4 Rugged shipped from China by John and it made it to my doorstep in 4 days. It was well worth the money and I will buy another custom when I get another cue. I also have a 1x2 Rugged.

The Sterling line of cases looks like a very good value if a padded interior is important to you. I believe the interiors were design by John Barton.

Artistic design and style is a matter of personal taste and probably better discussed in a different thread since the thread starter asked for the best case for the money.

Sick man..to threatening to kill the family include the 2 little beautiful kids

Yep. These innocent children can't help it that their daddy doesn't take any crap. It was a very low thing to do.
