What is the best Rack

I have a Diamond rack, Sardo rack and Magic rack.

I like the Diamond rack, rack the balls and your done.
Sardo is too big and then you have to align it, takes to much time, sorry Lou.
Magic rack, I have to align the template and place the balls and still make sure the balls are touching, it takes time.

Is there a better rack out there?

The Delta 13 is an excellent triangle rack. It is made of metal so it will virtually never wear or warp. The drawback is it is loud. Dampening inserts are available that take care of the noise but they are a $25 up charge from Delta (there are less expensive aftermarket solutions).

The rub on the Magic Rack is that it wires the wing balls once you get the proper speed down for that table. It is a handy tool though for tables where you just can't get the balls to all freeze properly either because of the table or used balls that aren't uniform.

The Slug Doctor is also very good. Unlike the the MR, it is a more permanent solution. It uses a template that puts perforations down on the cloth. It's no problem taking them off whenever you want but you don't have to place it and align it for each rack. What I like about the SD is that the perf's are slimmer so the balls don't lean into each other as much as the MR. I think it produces a more "natural" rack.

One thing the MR and SD have going for them is not often mentioned. That is that there is less wear on the bed cloth from the improper use of the triangle. Specifically I'm referring to placing the balls in the triangle at the foot rail and sliding it back and forth to get it into position. I always place the rack in the proper position first and them load the balls, but few people do this.

But if the table or balls are not giving problems getting a good rack, I prefer a good triangle like the Delta.

I just bought a chameleon rack because ozone has it 60% off plus with the winter code that ends today you get another 10%.. it works pretty well in my opinion. Mine came with an "enhancement pack" which is a bunch of felt stickers that you can align inside the rack and it actually made it a lot better. so for about 20$ you dont have much to lose. racks 3, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 ball.. with 7,8,9,10 using the plunger to tighten.

Magic Rack is the best thing out there. What is this time you are talking about to use it? Takes 10-15 seconds at most, no moving it around because one side of the rack does not freeze the balls, no moving balls around due to slight shape or size differences, or cloth or slate issues.

I've never used anything that racks the balls so well, at any price. Some kid at my son's junior league bought a $100+ aluminum thing he used for a few months, racked OK but at 10 times the cost of a Magic Rack and you need a suitcase to cart it around with you.

The original perfect racking device is the Rack-M-Rite Racking Template/tapping mat. Nothing beats the speed for 10 ball and 8 ball or straight pool. Used in more tournaments than any imitation.

Hymm

Okay, that's it I'm done.
Sharkster you have brought me back to reality.

I'm giving up pool as of today.

I'm going to start looking for a real rack like yours.

Where do you think that a old fat guy with lot's of money should start looking.
Gotta get out of the pool room !!!!!!

Grin, No smile, Barney

I love the magic rack. After using it some the time it takes to get a great rack is minimal.

D 13 will be your last rack you will ever have to buy, all the rest will come and go. just my 2 cents.

You can't dispute the MagicRack. If it's taking you a long time to rack with it, you're doing it wrong. Watch some videos.

I'd also check out the TruRack...seemed like a great concept (two pieces of metal with a hinge) that forms a triangle and folds for portability.
