What is the call?

Two situations came up recently during a game of nine ball that I would like the forums input/decision on. One player is getting the eight ball and during his turn at the table he makes the eight but scratches. Since the eight ball is his money ball is it spotted or does it stay down? Also, the player getting the eight accidently makes the eight but neither he nor his opponent make note of the fact and he continues shooting but misses before making the nine. His opponent runs out but then he remembers he made the eight ball earlier. Does he get the win? Thanks in advance.

Been thru these lots here...

Re: the spot ball going early, that should be decided before the game starts.
If it stays down then the 9 should be able to be shot down early too and guess what? It stays down too. Now whaddya do you wanna do?

Re: making the 8 and not noticing- once the next shot is taken the book closes on the prior one.

Around here, the rule about pocketing money balls on fouls is that if I'm spotting you the 8, and I pocket the 8 on a foul, it comes back up. If you pocket the 8 on a foul it stays down.

I agree that once the game has progressed (subsequent shots have been taken), you can't go back to the replay and claim you already won.
