From another thread - it has comes to light that players have not been paid for the World Ten Ball Championships, sanctioned by the WPA. When will they be paid?

The WPA just announces that they are sanctioning the World 9 Ball Championships. What exactly does that mean?

Mosconi Cup players are charged a WPA fee of 5% on their winnings. What did the WPA supply them for this surcharge? Didn't the WPA already get paid a fee by the Mosconi Cup organizers?

What is the function of the WPA?
The WPA, or Works Progress Administration, was established in 1933 to help...what? That's the wrong WPA? Sorry. I lost my mind, just for a moment.

What is the WPA

The WPA is an organization that has developed over the last 20 years as a vehicle to stage international pool events with the goal of attaining Olympic Recognition. To Sanction an event means you have to pay them for the privilege of using their logo to give your event credibility. While they maintain memberships with other sport bodies(They pay for that membership)to give the IOC a structure to look at. There are many people who have their opinions about the WPA,and the direction it is going,as it relates to World Cue Sports. It really doesn't have a significance in the American Pool Marketplace. The events you see are International(China-Qatar-UAE)because they have the money to support such an event, and are seeking credibility for their developing markets. This also contributes to the image of cue sports recognition for the Olympics. In my opinion,if Any Body which sanctions an event, and cannot pay all of its players immediately, and business obligations within 30 days of close,is placing it's reputation at grave risk in the eyes of the pool paying community. Yes, you read right, pool Paying, not Playing, because thousands of people support pool and never pick up a cue.
