What is the Most Ill-Conceived Pool Product You Have Ever Come Across?

I would buy that and put a nice tip and ferrule on there. It would be the sneakiest pete ever.

I always thought the best would be have a custom cue made to look exactly like one of the cheapest mass produced POS everyone knows about..

Start out playing on a house cue, then get a game going and go, ok you dont mind if i use my own cue? Ok good, cause I this things helps me shoot awesome....

The look on the OP face would be priceless, until he drops a couple c-notes to it....

I have a confession to make...

My home table came with a 9 ball rack and a regular triangle rack. When I play 9 ball I usually rack with the 9 ball rack. I can understand that there's no need for one, as I can rack 9 balls with the regular triangle rack. But do they actually rack worse? Can I not rack as tight with them?

Granted I didnt spend too much time trying, but I got a much better rack when using a normal triangle versus a 9ball rack.

A lot of things that have been listed I think are useful in some form or another, but the nine ball rack would have to be at the top of my list of useless items.

JMHO

I can't think of a reason for that to be true. The two sides that meet at the top are presumably at the same angle as a regular triangle, and that's all that matters (you have to shove all the balls forward with either one).

9-Ball racks aren't useless because they rack badly; they're useless because they're not needed (and because it's a little harder to shove all the balls forward with them).

The reason I say I didnt like it or couldnt get as good a rack is there wasnt enough room between the back of the rack and the balls to get my fingers into the rack.

It could have just been that rack, and the triangle not being the proper shape. But I didnt care for it.

They rack worse because you can't get your finger behind the balls to push them forward and tight together.

When you're racking with a triange, you want to be pushing the balls nice and tight together forward with the back's of your fingers. Tis impossible to do with a 9-ball rack, and their very existence makes me angry and frustrated!

I'd argue that joint protectors aren't that bad. I've got a quick-release joint (uni-loc), so it doesn't take more than a few seconds to remove the joint protectors, but they give me an extra half-inch on the shaft so I can pull it out of my case without turning the whole thing upside down and shaking it.

LOL, I met a guy at a bar years back. He was very friendly and we played lots of pool. I remember him talking about a "great old cue he used to have". He talked about how it used to be his dads or something. Then I asked what kind it was thinking since we were from WI he would say and old McDermott or Schon. Nope, all he said was it was a "5 piece cue" :thumbup2:

I saw a 5 piece cue the other weekend. When his grandfather was in the service, got it from england. It has all brass joints and was still fairly straight and in very good condition.

i own 4 multi peice cue's ... you know the cheaper ones that have the movable weights between the back joints... 2 of them are from the 70's to 80's and the other two are about 10 years old ... all solid wood not the painted stuff.

My choice is the cane cue stick. A hallow cue? WTF!
I have one but it needs a screw on tip. I can't bring myself to go buy a screw on tip for some reason.
I can convert it to a taper locking tip. They play just as good as a glued tip with the advantage of being able to be changed.I did a conversion for a cane type cue about a year ago now.The guy likes it and shoots very well with it.

Well, I don't like pool shirts that are nothing but a company logo and don't have any other artistic character. :)

Actually joint protectors are not for the pin but for the edges of the joint. Can't chip the edge if its covered. The Rempe ball gets my vote. Come on, who wants to turn the cue ball every time you shoot?:(

I would have to agree on 9ball and 7ball rack no good
Screw in ferrules
bumper pool
Although The chameeleon does 10,8 and 7 ball great 9 ball not so good.

My 2 cents

My votes go to:
Elephant Balls-HORRIBLE
The Glove- On our weekly team, If someone loses to someone with the glove, they have to buy shots for the whole team!
Lastly, 9 Ball racks....who ever uses them??

Elephant balls are the worst. I hate the glove too although I love Jeanette Lee. Screw on tips are pretty bad too.

Here is another good one from the makers of Elephant balls.....

Ever get a back ache from playing pool? Have you ever considered that it could be your chalk? Until recently, pool chalk came in one perplexing design with four sides, which some believe creates undue stress on the lower back. Well, Elephant Balls, Ltd. now offers you an ergonomically correct, three-sided chalk that is sure to eliminate the potentially harmful effects associated with trying to use 3 fingers on a four-sided piece of chalk. Pyramid Chalk is made from the highest quality materials you’re accustomed to and offers superior performance-it’s just ERGONOMICALLY CORRECT! Try it.it just feels right!

I think you have a winner there with the pyramid chalk!!

No wonder my back hurts after 10 hours of pool.

It's the chalk (smacks hand to forehead) doh!

That has to be the stupidest marketing line I have ever read.
Pool related or not...lol

Winner right there!

Oh? You mean the 10 hours BENT over trying to line up the shot is fine, its the little fingers causing the back pain?

OMG, marketing people rank...well they're just rank.

:)
