What is the One Major Player Flaw You See Most Often At The Pool Hall

this. if lou is talking about players, not late night bangers. it's the biggest flaw, worldwide, because it's a natural reaction somehow, that you have to fight / root out.

my method was "tattooing" it on my bridge hand, F.T.S.D. (follow through, stay down) on weekly tournament day. try to incorporate the "stay down til the ball drops" principle in the way you shoot. it's a life long fight for some, just look at thorsten, FSR.. i heard thorsten practiced with some kind of weight on his chest (~20 years ago) to promote staying down. could be hearsay
My coach used to stand behind me with the butt of his cue over my head. He'd knock me on the noggin if i jumped up on a shot. Learned real quick...

maybe also let them play the way they want. its none of your business how they hold their stick.

and as far as telling them, how would you like to get some driving instructions from a stranger after you get out of your car.
or another diner coming over telling you you dont eat your food correctly.

Brother, I don't think anyone here is talking about actually walking around and acting like a coach. We're just talking about the most common mistakes we see players make. Watching others play can help us identify weaknesses and strengths in our own games.

i haven't struggled in recent years, but when stroke or aiming errors crept up before i used to also "punish" myself by playing snooker a week, sometimes month(s). you'll get found out there, and self-correct by necessity

mark wilson has a tip, i don't remember exactly but it's a couple of words you say/think in drawn out manner when you follow through

"Ladies and Gentlemen."

I’ve been in a bit of action, coast to coast…..I got a feeling you have also. I’ve observed lots of players and how they do things.
…..with the intention of making a game with them….sometimes it’s how they handle one situation tells you all you need to know…..it’s kinda like playing poker…always looking for tells.
Every thing you learn makes you a better player.

ive only played for fun with two players in my whole life. and most always the window is open if i like the game.
sizing up someone from what he says and does, goes a long way to determine how to handle him. give him room to hang himself.

Hard room soft room? The 200 % guys have private tables around the world where you don't get to bother them.
Soft room, they don't care. Hard room, fully aware they aren't the least bit obligated to fulfill your qualifications.

When left with " a tough shot " chances are I also will give it a try nothing ventured nothing gained , right ?
First and foremost this is a game not life or death ha ha

So you will either be a hero or a zero if you take the shot or play a safety , yes I enjoy winning as much of not more than anyone else but if I'm defeated by good old fashioned great shooting I'll take it with a smile and a hand shake and chock it up to experience and go on with life as a lesson learned .
I'd much rather take the shot.
Builds Confidence. My aim is to win. Not let you win. By taking the shot, if I miss, I beat myself, you didn't.
Don't know unless you let the horses run.

I can't understand how any type of conscious thot during the shot can help in any way. Perhaps it comes down to who you were taught by. Once I'm on a shot, my mind is a blank. I don't let conscious thots get in. Block them out if you have to until it becomes automatic. Just my 2¢ of course.

All but the most serious road dawgs don't know when to shut up. Let them give you everything you need by just listening.
