What is the pin difference??

I currently have a 3/8x11 brass pin in the cue I play with, but I am going to have another cue built soon.

My question is would a stainless or brass pin be better and why. I am also having the cue made to be around 20.5+ ounces, so which one is heavier.

This cue will have an ivory joint if it makes any difference. I have also heard that 5/16x14 piloted is very good too, but I have not played with enough cues to know if it makes a difference w/ the ivory.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I've played with most of them, and i like the brass pins the most. Something, about the feel and sound of the hit just does it for me. My favorite is a brass radial pin w/ivory joint, just a beautiful thing to feel. How it feels to you is most important, but that's my opinion.

brass is actually heavier than SS by 10% or so.i like brass and G-10 but i have played with many steel pinned cues i liked too.also SS is stronger.

wow i learned something new today. i stand corrected. i dont use brass bc SS is stronger. i had a good talk with another maker that uses brass in the ajoint. i figured it was lighter but now that i think about it he said it was bc he could machine it easier. bore it out and really fine tune the weight

Thanks for all the help. I think I am going to stick with my 3/8x11 brass. I love the feel of my current cue, just needed some opinions. Thanks again.
