What is the trends for using Jump Cues?

I'm talking U.S her only. Johnnyt
I have yet to see a tourney flyer saying no jump cues, you can use them on the Mezz WestState Tour, and the Diamond Tour. Only reason I see to ban them is to allow the weaker players play weak safety's.
Those are major tournaments and Joss Tour is one of the oldest and best regional tours. I do believe there are more that ban Jump Cues than just those. Johnnyt

I sincerely hope they are banned from competition. Worldwide.
Having said that, I poorly executed a shot this evening. Wound up hooked behind my opponents ball. Got out the shorty. Popped my ball in dead center pocket from half the table length. My opponent threw the eight ball in in disgust. I was very happy. Won my team a round. Question is. would I have been able to kick the ball in from that distance? Think we both know the answer to that!

They are however banning belly putters , just like they have banned square groves and balls that don't conform

Did the jump cue make the shot or did you have to get up there and aim it, decide of the angle to use, figure the force and the amount of spin?
In other words you still had to come with a good shot that YOU directed.
On Sunday I got beat by a wild kick shot. I played the guy safe, no way to jump it so he goes for a kick at 90 mph. Balls flying everywhere, two go in and when everything stops moving he has a cosmo out.
I said, well, I guess my safe should have been tighter.

I happen to have an amusing story along these lines.
Shawn Putnam is a pro who is one of the best jump shot shooters in the world. There was a booth selling carom tables at an sbe one year. They were giving away cues if you could run 3 or 5 caroms in a row. I tried several times and wasn't able to do it. I told Shawn and he says I will go get one for you.
Sure enough he goes over and does it first try. Turns out he spent time practicing three cushion and knows the angles very well.

Then why don't golfers use the same equipment they did in 1920?
In other words any association gets it if they make decisions you agree with and are knuckleheads if they don't.

Golf bans balls and clubs all the time. So I guess you are saying that it makes sense to ban jump cues, but have a strange way of phrasing it.

The golf organizations ban the things which make golf a worse game, and keep new innovations which make it a better game. Not hard to understand I should think.
Frankly if you can't think of a pool innovation which would totally wreck the game, I recommend working on your imagination. Anyone think laser cues should be allowed in competition? So the question boils down to whether any given innovation improves the game or not. Unfortunately, pool doesn't (yet) have an objective a standard like golf has created for itself. So we are left with opinions. Neither of those opinions is wrong.
