OK Billiards world.... I have owned this cue since the late 90's. We have looked for it in books, I have taken it to collectors, I have sent pics of it to the company that MADE it, no one can tell me what it is, when it was made, or an approximate value. There USED to be a certificate with it, naming it #7 of 12. That has since been lost when the safe it was in was stolen and never retrieved. There is not a single serial # on the thing, not in the joints, not under the butt. It Is a Joss, original shaft, butt plate is cracked, over one of the inlays the finish bubbled and looks like a chip in the picture, but it's just where a bubble was, the wrap is FILTHY, but who's isn't on a regularly used cue. Most people I have shown it to say there is a good chance there is alot of ebony in the cue, and that the ferule and butt are Ivory. I'm pretty sure the ferule is NOT Ivory, but i'm unsure on the butt plate. Any insight here on this cue is GREATLY appreciated.

Maybe a prototype of the color of money cue? the wrap is dirty, so have it replaced and see if it says anything under the wrap.

You contacted JOSS Cues and no one can tell you what it is? I'm confused. It looks like a JOSS cue built in the 90's. They had switched their styles from the late 80's to what you have.

The late 80's had ivory ferrules and spliced forearms IIRC (okay, maybe not splice this late in their history), They switch to CNC flats in the early 90's and took ivory off of their standard catalog. There was a period of no serial numbers I'd say up until... 1993????

All from memory and probably all wrong, but I find it hard to believe that the guys at JOSS (Stephen and Dan Janes) would have no information on this.

Freddie <~~~ thinks it's a JOSS

It's a late '80s to early '90s Joss with a Szamboti style inlay arrangement in the butt sleeve. Ferrule is not ivory, butt cap is not ivory. Yes, ebony. Nice cue....probably worth $225-275 in its current condition.

100% all Joss I want to say from 1990 to 1995 time frame is there any type of lettering on the butt anywhere ?

Reading my posts means you consent to my incorrect spelling and poor typing skills.

Looks like a model 8. or J8. One of the first series that had gold letters at the joint. Late 1980's early 1990's. it is in one of my old catalogs.
