What is your favorite LD shaft/tip combo?

Seems like most people favor soft, layered tips with their low deflecton shafts. Anyone using hard single piece tips? What do you like about your setup?

Personally I like using a hard talisman tip with a 314-2 shaft. The harder tip has a nice clean hit and you can get way more english on the cue ball if needed. As for the shaft, pretty much speaks for itself.

I have OB-1 and Moori Med tip. on a Lucasi LE-75. I like the feel of the hit and this Moori tip is lasting a long time..once I learned not to use a scuffer and just a needle type tool...and I dont need that very often. As long as the tip holds chalk good no need to mess with it. and No I don't Break with it.

OB Classic with Moori medium. Love the hit and feel. I do break with it from time to time, but not that often.

there is very little deflection difference in a Predator and my SPTX shaft and a S. Moori and the feel is much better.

When it comes to LD shafts, up until recently,
I'd fluctuate ,like a crack heads weight.. Until I got my hands on a very low deflection, and stiff,B.E.M. shaft..

I stay with Kamui Black from ss,s,m,h,on all of my LD shafts..

For me, it's a McDermott I-3 with a soft Moori tip. Tip diameter is 11.75mm which gives me a sense of geometric precision where I hit the cue ball. Been playing with it for over a year and it never mushroomed (I thought a soft tip would be more prone to mushrooming). Played with an OB-2 for about 2 weeks (which I borrowed from a buddy) but found the striped ferrule distracting. Saw little difference between the OB-2 and the
I-3. Never tried the Predator but it seems there are quite a few threads about quality issues with it. I tried but didn't like the black Kamui soft tip.

Is there a big difference between the Moori soft and Kamui soft ?

Gulyassy SPTX shaft and Kamui Black Soft...the SPTX is not a traditional "LD" shaft in terms of its construction, but the deflection is on par with first gen Predators and OB1 shafts I've tried...the hit, feel/feedback and action on this shaft is awesome. If you're old school in terms of preferring solid maple shafts but would like lower deflection, you've gotta try this shaft. I'm amazed at how well it plays.

I felt the Kamui soft to be a bit harder than the Moori and I liked the hit better with the Moori. I tend to play most of my shots at pocket speed and only stroke harder to move the cue ball some distance. Moori seems to fit my style of play. But it's very subjective - that's why there's so many different tips and shafts out there.

OB1 w/Kamui Blk SS which I tapered down (over time) to 11.5mm before the OB2 came out. Ton of action and I can't get away from it. :D

Best,
Mo

I have an OB1 shaft tipped with a factory Tiger Everst - seems a bit too soft for my liking,
also have a Tiger X tipped with a Tiger Onyx - combination works very nicely for me.
