I was wondering how we here at AZ Billiards feel about the different pool games. I know there are many of them out there. So here is an option of 6 that came to mind and of course the slot for the ones I didn't think to add. I would also love to hear why it is your favorite. Here we go...
I chose One Pocket, because I love the thinking and creativity that goes with it. I love the way that one shot can accomplish many objectives.
I love eightball bro, always played the game never really played anything else that much although i played them just that i would rather play some eightball, especially bank eight or make eight last pocket. The reason for that game is it makes the game alot harder and you have to be creative with your shot making.
I think you should list 10-ball, the Florida Pro Tour is based on it and in my opinion it takes the soft break and dead balls in the rack out of the equation.
If you don't I understand, but that is my game of choice and think it should be an option. Thank you.

Yes I know, I have seen Joe T's videos. I just counldn't list them all and that was one I did leave off. You can't change a poll once it is started. Sorry.
I'd say my favorite game is 9-ball, its the only game i've played for years. Recentlly though i've started pllaying a lot more one pocket and this afternoon i'm having my first ever game of 14.1!! I've even started playing snooker again!
I started playing this game when I was young. That's what pinoys (Filipinos) play when they get started before the 90's. I only play this game when I practice by myself.
The game of "38" is played with 4 balls. The 1, 2, and 3 balls are the object balls, the 4th is the cue ball. Two to Four players. One on One, Team on Team, or Ring game of 2-4.
Object of the game:
Get "IN", Get "38", Get "OUT"
The table is set up as follows:
One Ball - Foot spot
Two Ball - Center table spot
Three Ball - Head spot
When/If a ball is pocketed, it will come out to it's designated table spot.
Only foul is when the there is a cue ball scratch, including cue ball off table heading towards the floor.
Incoming player of STARTING round (round 1), HAS to start with table set as diagram 1, with ball in hand in the kitchen. Even if the previous shooter got IN, the incoming player will have a "fresh" table (as according to dia. 1) with cue ball in hand in the kitchen.
Getting IN:
Before having the ability to accumulate a score, you MUST Get IN. During the "Get IN" shot, there is a requirement. The THREE ball MUST be struck first while calling a billiard/carom to the two(2) ball or one(1) ball.
Failure to Get "IN" results in waiting for your next turn at the table to try again to Get "IN".
Once first round is over, incoming shooter will be attempting a shot from where the privious shooter left the cue ball. The ONLY time the incoming shooter will have cue ball in hand in the kitchen, is if the previous shooter fouled the cue ball.
Once you "Get IN", now you can start accumulating points.
Getting 38:
When coming to the table, you HAVE to declare either "Pocket ball" or "Billiard/Carom" shot. Which ever you choose, your next shot will be the other.
During your time at the table (i.e. your inning at the table) you are required to alternate your shots.
If you chose a "billiard" as your first shot, your next shot HAS to be a "pocket ball" shot. If you make your "pocket ball" shot, your next shot WILL be a "billiard" etc... Else, it's lose of turn.
If this shot is declared a "Pocket 3 ball", and the (2) ball falls too (without a cue ball foul), the shooter gets Five (5) points. Pocketed 3 ball = 3 points + Pocketed 2 ball = 2 points, nothing for the billiard.
If this shot is declared a "Billiard - 2 off the 3" (without a cue ball foul), the shooter gets Seven (7) points. Declared billiard = 2 points + Pocketed 3 ball = 3 points + Pocketed 2 ball = 2 points.
Remember: pocketed balls return to their designated spot.
If at any time during your inning, (your turn at the table) you fail to accomplish a called shot, you loose all your accumulated points. You have the option, before the shot, to stop and take whatever points you've accumulated. This option ends your inning.
I think you get the idea
Once you get to 38 Points, you must go out on a clean shot, else...
you loose all 38 points and start at Zero (0).
Getting OUT:
The only way out of 38, is to do a CALLED billard scratch to a called pocket (without pocketing a ball or doing a secondary billiard) I.E. You HAVE to go off of one of the three object balls and scratch to a designated pocket, without fouling, or going over 38.
If you fail on your "OUT" shot, (I.E. you do the billiard and stratch, but another ball drops during that stroke, you went over and have to start at zero) 9 out of 10 it's lights out.

That's the jist of it, for the most part.
I learned this game while being a member of the Fort McIntosh Club.
How could you leave out Bank Pool...one of the three disciplines included in the DCC All-Around? As you may have guessed by my question, it is my favorite game.

AN ABSOLUTE BRAIN FART! Man I am so sorry. I have no idea how I did that. I looked at the list quite a few times before posting, and I was feeling like I forgot something, but could not for the life of me remember what it was. That was it. UGG! *feeling like crap now*

Don't feel like crap, it's just an oversight. Looks like Mr. Wilson added a couple games. My guess is 14.1 or One Pocket will win regardless if 10 Ball or Banks is in the mix or not. Don't beat yourself up over it. It's an interesting poll and I'm glad to see the majority of the voters are purists.
Thanks for posting this. This game is a lot like the old bottle pool I played in college, but I have never played it before. It is lots of fun! I have already run into 3 questions on the rules though:
1. What if you make no contact of any ball, is that a foul?
2. For example, If the cue ball comes to rest on the foot spot after making the 3 ball, where do you spot it?
3. What happens if all three balls end up in the kitchen and the other person scratches?
3. The cue ball is played from the kitchen, must go past the foot spot line before contacting any of the balls, hit a rail, come back past the foot spot line to make the called shot of either a billiard or ball to be pocketed.
Thanks for bringing up those cercumstances. They don't come up very often, and didn't think to put them in my original response. Hope you have fun with the game
My favorite game is the one that my friend/opponent will play with and or teach me how to play. As to the specific games it really just depends on what type of mood I am in. If I want to work on my fundamentals(and want a more relaxed game) and precision I play a game of snooker. If I want a change of pace I play a game of 8 ball or one pocket(I play 9 ball most of the time).
I know it's a little too early to make definitive comments about these poll results, but I must admit I am a bit shocked at this stage of the game. I know that we here on the AZB are a little more learned than the average pool player as far as the different kinds of games that we play. But somehow, I still figured 9-Ball would rule this poll. It really tells you just how diverse our group is when you see the spread of voting that has gone on.
Thanks for your participation and keep on voting for you favorite!
