On ebony points into birdseye, four veneers. What is the most appealing combination of colors to you? I'm thinking--inside to out--maple, red, blue, black. What do you guys like?

I too have this same curiosity, I made a post requesting a way to see this before placing an order for a custom cue. I want to know that my colors will look good together before the cue is actually built.crawdaddio said:

Although I have a cue with orange veneer mixed with additional colors...anything BUT orange. Just isn't my cup of tea, although it may be for others.

For instance, one of my cues has an ebony butt with ivory and turquoise inlays. My veneers match the butt with (inside to out on an ebony point),
maple, very light green, light blue, black.
Your colors sound good, but unless it's a plain butt and you want the veneers to stand out, I don't think you want the veneers to take away from all the inlay work or clash with a fairly ornate butt.
My Skip's got (out to in) Ebony-Bloodwood-Maple (black-red-white), but if I get another one with maple nose/ebony points it'll be black blue silver or white. Check it out on this Searing:

I would go from the birdeye inward Ebony, Maple, Ebony, Maple. With 4 veneers that means you would have the black ebony on the edge of the birdeye and the ebony point would be bordered with maple. Then the middle would alternate those same colors of white-ish wood and black. It would look alot more classic using just those 2 colors then going multicolored.

Murray's made me a blank with white, gold, blue and black (SD Charger) colors thats an exceptionally nice combo. I like the traditional natural, green, orange, black, and I like the Szamboti natural, black, red, black (barbs cue) I also have Skip doing this combo for a customer and its maple, ebony, bloodwood (very red) and ebony and all I can say is when its done, I expect this to be one of the very best examples of this combination. The cue is perfect, the no seems and natural colors really make this point combo stand out for some reason.
