I was just chatting with some guys about gambling when this thought came to me...
I wonder if because i have played so many cheap sets that this is the reason i have never been what you would call a front runner at this game?

I mean if i had always played high stakes pool i wonder if i would have been more of a dominating player??

Let me explain 1 more way...When i play pool it seems, only when i am down, my juices start pumping instead of juices pumping from the lag....U know what i'm saying??

That is ssoooo cold, but probably true.
If ya cant win with small coin bets ya won't win for the big coin either. Money doesn't make ya play better or worse, what motivates ya is inside. If you are a slow starter, you could play longer sets. Learn your tendencies and play to your strong suit.
There is nothing worse than getting stuck a couple sets, then shooting lights out to get even, only to see the other guy pull up.

Matching up, even for small bets, can generate the feeling some are looking for.. the adreneline flowing and how to play when it is flowing.

Ever been in a match and your KNEES dissapear? or your arms turn to JELLO?
or your BRAIN turns OFF... you can't think about anything especially what to do at the table?

Money doesn't create this feeling... it is pressure. How you handle it is your character at the table. When you're a winner you can handle it much better than the novice or beginner and a little better than the less seasoned players.

You can create a lot of pressure for your self without matching up. Just put $20 in one pocket and play to get out... or a short 'ghost' race. If you win, keep the $20 if you lose, tip the wait staff $20... if that's not enough pressure for you... tip them $100.
