what kind of spot could I get from top pros?

smashmouth said:
Yes, and I'm not doing this to help my game, I'm doing it for fun.

Sometime Top Pro like Nice Varney make the round to pool Rooms to do demo, and answer question. Sometime they will play a game of two with those who attend the demo for FREE. Plan on an ASS WHIPPING...:) :) :) :) :)

Do you really think?

What kind of spot in nine ball would the top gambling pros give me?

I runout about 1 out of 20 racks.
Smash:
Do you really think that any Pro's going to believe that anyone that plays as poorly as running 1 out of 20 racks is willing to put up a couple of K, just to have the experience of loosing to a pro. Without knowing your speed, they're not going to believe your that bad a player, so they're never going to give you the kind of spot you need to have any kind of chance. You might as well stand on some train tracks and wait for a train, it should feel about the same. You'll be paying to watch them practice running racks.
Take the 2K and go to the Black jack tables, you'll have more fun and look much less like a fool.

efren would give you the 6 out and the breaks and have room to give you a little more if he had too (ie for big cash). if you say no way go talk to tang hoa (a world class 9baller), and ask him what he got from efren (and lost).

The 6 out and the breaks is insane.

You think so? There's a kid in my local room that plays about your speed, 1 of 20 maybe. I give him the last 5 and beat him. Then a road player comes to town and I match up with him. He gives me 5 on the wire to 15 and 3 on the wire to 11. So what do you think the road player could give him?
I gave a kid that couldn't spell pool the breaks, ball in hand after the break, and the 3 ball. After I beat him that way, I adjusted it to the 2 ball. He couldn't win. Sometimes, it doesn't matter what you get or give. Get it?

Just curious.. What was the spot? I have seen efren give up maaaaddddd weight and come out on top. He doesn't care about what he gives because he is and will runout 85%-90% of the time. If he can't runout he will leave you where you can't runout. He is awsome!!!!!

play tournies instead

just enter the US Open. You may draw a top pro or a good short stop. Every time I think I'm playing good I take 77 North and play a friend of mine some long sets. I can judge how my game is coming along by how bad I get my ass kicked. Playing even, I may when 4-5 games in a race to 11, if I'm playing good. If I'm playing great I'll get to six. Winning the set is out of the question.

I run out more than 1 out of 20 times, It's what you do at the table after the pros leave you something. It's not very often their inning ends in a miss. You have to get out.

Tacony Billiards in Philly Pa, Efren gave out 15/3 in 1 pocket to a good player, and Efren never broke a sweat, but the guy got broke!

1P is even worse than 9B when giving crazy spots. If you don't know even the most basic 1P moves, a good 9baller will look silly getting smoked. Trust me I've been there!:D

What kind of weight have you seen him give, do tell.

Well i saw him give Jimmy Wetch, who just came off a win in Las Vegas winning an 8-ball tourney,10-5 playing 1-pocket and he made jimmy look like he had never played before. Lasted about 8-games. Uhmm 8 in a row!!!

lol, I'm not planning on insulting anyone with five dollar games

Wait am minute. There is a 7 page thread on how you don't believe in gambling. So if your not going to gamble, why are you looking for a spot?

Like a lot of other people said just play even and bring $50-75 or so for some cheap sets. Consider it paying for a lesson.

efren gave tang the 6 ball and tang lost. NOW, im really not sure if tang has beat up on effie with this spot since then, that very well could be. i just know what happened back then.

if you dont know, tang made it to the finals of the us open one year and lost to buddy hall, he also went unbeaten through the derby city one pocket one year until the finals, where effie beat him twice, but he did knock effie to the losers side.

NOW think about that 6 ball spot. it really is scary.

He didn't say he doesn't believe in gambling, he said that he doesn't believe that gambling is a valid tool that can help your game improve.

oh, perhaps I should go and get my foot removed from my mouth.

I still think he should play them even though.

I agree. If he is going to just play them for fun he might as well play for reasonably cheap and play even. Hell, it might even just cause him to raise his game a level for the competition.

CJ Wiley gave several A masters and some very good road players the last five and the breaks and they couldnt beat him. Most of these guys can beat the ghost and run out about 80 percent of the time. I think it is mental. I was also told by a road player here in Dallas who shoots lights out and is consider by many to be one of the best players in Texas, that Jack Hines gave him the 7-8 and the breaks and robbed him.

Jack Hines giving up weight?? Impossible!

On tight equipment I would take the last five and the breaks against anyone.

The six ball is hardly a spot at all at that level.

your right. this guy made it sound like he gave the 6 and out!. the best chance to beat the best players is anonymity. if you're not known you can sometime get the world to start but just don't show to much to quick or the gravy train will come to a halt before it gets to town. this don't last too long though the word gets around trust me. ;) :D

Exactly. The last part you mention is the reason why I have never ask for, or accepted, a spot. I'd rather lose and learn something than win a get a few dollars.
