Greetings.. welcome.

Professional size? Pros play on 7 8 & 9 ft tables.

You need 5 ft on each side of the table so maybe that will determine the size of table you want to look for.

Look for a used table with a slate bed. Get good cloth. Find an experienced pool table mechanic to help you choose the table. Your pool hall should know someone. Read. Ask more questions on az. Take your time. You an find a dammed good table within your budget.

When you buy a pool table, you want something that will last. I always recommend Brunswick, Olhausen, and Diamond. Connelly also if you get a real good deal. These table usually start around $2200, so if you can not go there, you may want to look used. Also, if you want tournament conditions, you probably want to upgrade you cloth to simonis 860. It makes a huge difference in the speed of the table, and is what almost all pro tournaments are played on. They generally also use Aramith super pro balls. Both of these upgrades add a little cost. I would consider thinking about pocket size too. most home tables are set up with pockets over 5" wide. That ismuch wider than tournament play. Most pro tournaments are played on 9' tables, but these require a lot of space. If you can not fit one, and 8' pro, or 8' table are you next best choice. Good luck.

I bought mine from http://www.bostontables.com/ they are also a power seller on eBay. They sell really good quality solid wood tables. I bought a 7 foot table for $1300 delivered. Took 5 days to get it and paid an extra $200 locally to have it setup. The installer was really surprised about the price I paid for the quality of the table. Local stores charge $3500 for a solid wood table similar to mine. They imported from China but look and play great !
