What makes the tables play differently?

Ok, I don't have so much experience on different tables.
I have played on (all 9ft): GC3, GC4, (Brunswick) Medalist, (Brunswick) Centurion, BCE and Sivissidis Olympic pro (local table maker)

I was wondering tho, if you have 2 different tables (say a GC4 and a Diamond, although I've never played on one, I read here that they play differently) and you have them set up by the same mechanic (a good one) with same rails, same cloth, why do they still play differently?? What makes the table play differently than the others?

Primarily the player. Same with cues.

After that, cloth, cushions, and pocket characteristics in that order IMHO. The cloth speed and even cushion speed will change with temperature and humidity.

(Assuming the darn thing is put together right, in good condition, and is level, of course.)

There are some subtleties between tables set ups, even with all the same materials. To name one, the way the mechanic stretches the cloth can make a big difference in speed. Rail height changes the bank characteristics.

It drives me crazy to be in a room where every table plays radically different from each other. It's seems like it's impossible to play well on some tables.

LOL!

Yeah, and what is worse is when the rail height varies on the same table!:eek::eek:

So if you have a GC and a Medalist side to side in the same room (same temperature and humidity conditions) and have them installed by the same good mechanic, with same cloth and cushions, they will play the same?

Are the tables Facing East to West or North to South?

Are you kidding around or something?

Hey i get it, if you don't know you just don't know but with a little bit of effort some of the answers can be had, especially in a situation like this.
same tires on different cars will not react the same and tons of other examples. Construction plays a big factor i.e. diamond being one piece slate GC being 3, Joy being a full that kitchen island, and human error cause there's just no way a person can do the exact same work.
So the manner in which the table is constructed will affect how the work gets done, some easy some hard, materials in which the table is made, the slight difference in which the grains in the cloth runs, level of stretch, dust does not collect evenly, as someone mentioned rail height, I mean take your pick just keep throwing out scenarios out there and you can form a picture as to how table play can vary.

It will be A LOT of work to duplicate all the specs of a Diamond 9ft pro-cut.

Not to mention the Diamond's deeper shelf.
