The Question I am asking is because when a Cue is Used a lot of Wear & Tear from Hitting Ball is Transferred BACK into the Cue.

I notice many Cuemaker do not use Exotic Woods like Burls, and or Snakewood in Butt or Forearms, and i have been told that there wood are Prone to Failure if the are use for an Entire Butt or Forearm.

So the Question is say you are a HARD BREAKER, what Part of the Cue take the Most Abuse.

Butt, Grip, Forearm, Joint, Shaft, Ferrule, or Tip?

By far the tip takes the most abuse and of coarse is changed the most. If the cue has a good ferrule to start with then number two would be the shaft. I've seen breaking contests where there was two or three cues to break with and after two days of these very hard breaks (26-30.5 mph) the shafts were completely use less.

By using a good ferrule such as Melamine I don't see where any other damage should occur to a properly built cue being used by a competent player. I've seen shafts and fore arms broken during the act of breaking and the man breaking was very proud of this feat believing his break was so hard that this occured. Truth is that in every such case it was the man's inability to properly stroke the cue that caused the damage. They try to break like Mike Siegal and hold the shaft to the table as they raise the butt on follow thru breaking the shaft or others lift the shaft into the air after contacting the cue-ball causing the forearm to contact the table breaking it.

which part is most prone to failure ????...the SHOOTER !!

other than that tips and ferrules, depending on who made the cue...JMHO

If the tip is not too worn down I don't see ANY part of a well made Q failing. NOW IF YOU LEAN ON THE Q, WHEN YOU BREAK....GOOD BY Q...JER
