Just wanted to know what size table you guys played on. I know you all of you can play on the 9 footers! Anyone like 7-8 Better if so why?

What i meant to say was, I know all of you can play on the big tables!

Like you noted, I can play on the 9' tables or even the smaller 6' and 7' tables if I'm forced, but my preference is a standard 8' table. The main reason is that I feel most comfortable on the table, and consequently enjoy the game more. I feel too stretched or cramped on the other sizes. Also, room size plays into my decision. Currently I'm a little cramped with my 8' table so there is no way a 9' would work (although we are trying to sell our current house and build a new one with a bigger gameroom, so that problem should be gone soon enough).

The last factor for me is that most of the local pool halls have the 8' tables around here. That means I can practice my game at home on the same size table, and be prepared to whip some tailend when I get to the hall. Since this is what I've been shooting on every since I knew how, I suspect that's why the 8' tables feel more comfortable to me as well.

I play on an oversized eight at home. It's a 1965 Brunswick VIP.
In league, I play on a nine foot Gold Crown. I guess I should have went for the nine footer at home, too. I have the room, but was a little short of money and in a hurry to get the table.

I play on 9' tables most of the time. Occasionally, I play on 8' tables. I'd rather play on the 9 footers.

No limit 6 footers? Never knew they had a table that small! I"ve grown up on7 foot tables, I like them but i like 8 the best. the 8 footers aren"t to big and not to small they give you a challenge on the long shots. I do think its harder to run out on the seven"s because there are so many clusters. I think each table has its own advantages!

I play on a pro 8 in my home and find it suits me perfectly. Because it is right between an 8 and 9 footer, I can easily move from playing on it to a 9 and not feel like there is much difference. I usedf to own an 8 and always felt a big difference when I went to play on a nine. I think a pro8 is perfect.

I always prefer to play on a 9'er, and have one in my home, but I do find myself playing on coin-op 7 footers a lot. I think I play on 8 foot tables the least.

I play on a really strange table. It's a 9 footer which used to be a barbox! Now it's got new rails, reworked pockets, Aramith balls, Simonis 760 + we also made a custom ball return system. The only thing I don't like is that it's a little higher table than normal.

My table at home is a 7' footer because that is all the space I had.

Believe it or not I feel I play better on an 8' though. That's weird because the longer the table, the sharper your angles must be.

I prefer to play on 9 foot tables, but play on 7 in my 8ball league. I hate the 7 foot tables. You really need to sink some balls on the break because its easy to be left with a tough shot, everything is so crammed.

I have a 9 footer at home but wish i had a 7 footer (small room, gotta use a toothpick cue too often). My favorite tables to play on are 8 footers but my un-realistic goal of becoming a pro Pushed me into buying a 9 foot table. I Like 8 footers because they arent to small and over crowded, although i love how 7 footers play because i can't be beaten. To many people try to run out on a 7 footer when they should be ducking and covering more often, because of the cramped spaces. Although alotta bar players can beat me it seems i have the edge on 7 foot tables.

Perhaps I had a brain fart on my table sizing. I thought some of our local coin tables were 6' boxes, but maybe I was mistaken. I haven't played on one of those in so long it is unreal.

I have seen a Valley bar box that was 6 1/2' x 3 1/4'. Talk about traffic. :)

I like 9 footers but sadly i am forced to play on an 8' most of the time.

I very rarely play on any other table than 9'. I hate the smaller tables and mostly refuse to play on them. One reason for this could be that I'm 6'5" so I'm rarely stretching on 9-footers :-)

At home I'm playing on a 8 foot table until next winter when I will be getting a 9 footer, when I go out to shoot I will play on either an 8 or a 9 foot table but I dislike playing on 7 footers because they are so crowded.

I play on 8' at home and 9' at the poolhall. I much prefer the 9 footers. I would love to try a 10 footer like they used to use in the old days. I have played on 10 foot snooker tables and love the extra challenge.

10-footers

Speaking of 10-footers, what is the high run on that length? I might have read or heard somewhere that it was Mosconi but not totally sure...
Also, around what year did they stop having major tournaments such as World Championship matches on them; late 40s early 50s?
