First, don't turn down the original shafts..save them to maintain the value of the cue. If you want a smaller shaft, go to a Predator, etc or have a custom cuemaker make one to the specs you want without destroying the value of the Scruggs.

I like 12.75...tried the Z shaft, but did not care for it. I have gotten used to the deflection of the Predator and have a difficult time when playing with a standard shaft, especially when you need to muscle it up and play with something other than center ball. The ball does not seem to react the same.

Isn't it possible to sand the tipside of the ferrule to a smaller diameter? So if you want to sell your cue/shaft some day, you only have to change the ferrule to a new one with 13mm.

I have a Tasc, a Holmes, a Smith, even a Perry, they are all 13mm and if I chose to go smaller then i would probably order a new shaft the size that I want to save the originals. I don't have a Scruggs, yet, but its on my list.

Bamacues, I have pretty much followed your suggestions above thus far. I will leave the original shafts alone, and have picked up a Predator 314 ^2 to use on a regular basis. I still practice with the original shafts every now and then, to see if I can make them work for me, but so far I am much more comfortable with the predator shaft.
