What the hell......

I just realized that after 5721 posts I have never introduced my self.
Let me fix that.
I'm 70 years old.
Playing pool for 57 years.
I still work full time in the flooring business.
I live in the enlightened state of Colorado.Concealed carry,Casinos, legal pot, state lottery.
And I'm a proud deplorable.
Any questions ?

Well, it's about time.

Has anyone noticed how new members just all of a sudden show up without any introduction what-so-ever?
There's a thread currently going around about how an 'old school' style cue should look, and there are lot's of good replies coming in. Clean out of nowhere comes an opinion from a guy, and it's post count 1 from him. No howdy-doo-how-are-you, or no "I'm new here", or "Long time lurker, first time poster", and certainly no "I sure hope to learn something by being here". No nothing.
Back in the day a new member properly introduced themselves, and would sometimes ask for permission to join in. They usually told us where they were they're from, and which game of pool they preferred. Stuff like that.
Not now, it seems.

I introduced myself int he "introductions thread" but I'll do it here for you gentlemen and ladies who have been here awhile.

Hello, my name is David I am located in Central CT. I'm somewhat new to AZB, I've been a lurker for awhile and decided recently to start actively posting on the forum. I'm looking to build relationships with others who also have a passion for this game. I play eight ball, nine ball, some ten ball. My family owned a pool room in CT for years and had to close up shop around 8 years ago. I'm 25 years old and play in APA leagues and In-House league and play in an occasional tournament here and there.

Just to be on the safe side......

Hi, all. My name is Tramp Steamer.
I'm 70 years young, I live in the great State of Missouri, and I used to be a hand model for Mulehide Work Gloves.
I like long walks on the beach, puppies. and low cost car insurance.
My favorite game of pool is One Pocket, but I will play 3 ball, 8 ball, 9 ball, and rotation if there is a gun to my head.
Oh yeah. I have a crush on Miss Trigger.

I never did make an introductory post....'cause sometimes I just feel sorry for the post..:crying:

3 ball! I use to have a blast playing in a 3 ball ring game every week. I miss those days!

I never introduced myself either, when I 1st started posting, but who cares, right?

Something i wanted to ask when I first joined....buy was a little shy...

How come there are more balls involved at 8-ball than 9-ball?

Greetings

Hello everyone, my name is Joe, 58 years old and have been in love with the game of pool ever since I was a kid. I was taught pool etiquette when I was about 10 by my uncle who also was nice enough to take me to a Willie Mosconi exhibition. I did introduce myself initially on the sticky but I thought this thread was a good opportunity to go a little deeper into why I enjoy this forum. Been a psychotherapist for about 35 years or so and specialize in psychophysiology, the relationship between the mind and body using things like biofeedback, neural feedback and other technologies for optimal performance and the ability to create states to enhance creativity, focus, concentration. I lurked here for a while and joined recently and appreciate the fund of knowledge. I've been fortunate to have training by some top psychologists who work in the optimal performance field and sports and realized that some techniques that are being used in other sports for optimal performance are actually best suited for pool due to their emphasis on mind-body control, routines, visualization and using technology to access the learning of those optimal states. Recently, I enjoyed the post on the best book you ever read for instruction and am trying to read as much as I can on what has been written so far and hopefully contribute. It's nothing I'm looking to make money at or get recognition for. It's just when I see what's going on in other sports and realize how applicable it is to pool I feel some responsibility to share. So anyway, I use the forum personally to take a mental break during lunch and more recently to assist me in researching some of these concepts that I'd like to share. I don't like to do anything half-assed, so right now I'm doing my homework and reading as much as I can before I open my mouth on the subject. I really appreciate the wealth of knowledge and experience on the forum. thanks

Shooter32 (John), it is my pleasure to meet you.
Unlike Cubswin, you are a Southern gentleman.

I just criticized a new member on his thread for what I considered was obnoxious behavior.
This person has less than 30 days on the Forum and he is telling others they are wrong.
He also starts a flurry of new threads and proceeds to hog the microphone repeating his
comments and opinions with the hope that perhaps sheer repetition might lend any credence
or substance to his posts. I guess social media behavior has reached the Forum......too bad.
